Felice Stevens has always been a romantic at heart. She believes that while life is tough, there is always a happy ending just around the corner. Her characters have to work for it, however. Like life in NYC, nothing comes easy, and that includes love.
She lives in New York City and has way too much black in her wardrobe yet can’t stop buying “just one more pair” of black pants. Felice is a happily addicted Bravo and Say Yes to the Dress addict and proud of it. And let’s not get started on House Hunters. Dom

The sins of the father are the sins of the sons.
For years I’ve been trying to atone for the crimes of the monster who created me, for the monster running in my blood. I’m unworthy of love, of compassion…of understanding.
I made my peace with living this life of penance while hunting the rat poisoning the ranks of the Famiglia. At least that was true until she entered my life. India McKenna—a walking, talking contradiction built in a goddess.
When she looks at me, her emerald eyes full of tenderness seem like my shot at redemption.
I lost my soul many years ago, but this woman makes me want to retrieve it…
Will I be brave enough to reach for it?

India

I left Calgary to get away from the hurt, to heal my heart and my life. What I didn’t expect was meeting Domenico Romano, a career criminal with a heart of gold and looks that could make any woman fall to her knees. A man like I’d never met before. A man so hell-bent to keep his distance, to make me believe he is bad despite the goodness I keep seeing seeping out of him.
This man is so full of secrets, of doubt and remorse, and as I try to save him in spite of himself, I find myself falling for him…
Will I be brave enough to save us both?

EXCERPT

I felt a visceral attraction for Dom, almost felt it from the moment I met him, and he admitted feeling the same? I had to go with my gut for once and even if it didn’t lead to anything, then what? I’d be leaving eventually.
“India, I can’t,” he said softly, but his actions contradicted his words as he followed me. “It won’t work. Not the way I’d like for it to work.”
Once we were in my room, I turned around and met his troubled eyes.
“I want you, Dom.”
He took a sharp intake of breath. “That’s not the problem, India. I—”
I rested my fingers against his lips to stop him. “Do you want me?” I asked, running my hand slowly down his muscular chest, hooking my finger on his leather belt.
“More than my next breath,” he admitted, leaning down almost in spite of himself and barely brushing his soft lips against mine.
I pressed my lips against his, taking the leap and initiating the kiss we were both craving.
He brought his hand to the back of my head, deepening the kiss, his tongue dominating as he explored me in a consuming way. The rich alcohol taste of his mouth was almost as intoxicating as his kiss.
“Give me control,” I whispered breathlessly against his lips once we broke the kiss.

Twisted KnightTwisted Knight by R.G. Angel

“A Dark and Gripping Mafia Romance”

Move over Don Vito Corleone, there’s another famiglia in town.  And they’re not here entirely to pay a simple visit.  They’re here for their family to protect, honor, and to preserve as each try to achieve their own form of redemption.

Twisted Knight, by R.G. Angel, is the second story of the Cosa Nostra Series and it wastes no time as it sucker-punches the reader right off the bat as it continues down a gripping, trigger infused, dark, and emotional road for Gianluca, Domenico, and Matteo as these, at one time regular young boys, quickly turn into strong mafia men as they enter a world of secrets, pain, sacrifice, love, and ultimately their own redemption.

Wow.  This is quite the story as it seems to tease the reader with its slow pace with various forms of trigger points, with off and on page warnings, as this heavy story is in fact a mafia story.  And they clearly are exciting yet brutal reads filled with many twists and turns..  Readers need to be aware of the existence of rape, torture, and violence triggers as they come at unforeseen moments during the story.

Twisted Knight, is equally a romance between Dom and India as each damaged soul, one more than the other, bravely embark on their own road to peace and redemption regardless of the twists and turns that attempt to block their path during their newly formed relationship.

Oh boy, what a dark and heavy read this was as the forced actions of Dom’s past continuously haunt him during his self-imposed purgatory and professed need for continued dedication to his extended family to sooth his soul and lack-of-humanity.  Gah, I love Dom as he is an intrinsically kind man with such a good heart who craves love and actually a normal life.  For this, I was glad for the presence of India who was able to break through his wall of darkness to allow the real Domenico to come to light.

SQUEE!!!  I loved the secondary characters as they had a heavy presence within this story, Jude and Enzo being my favorites.  I also loved the use of the phrases in Italian to make it a more authentic mafia story. Not having read the first story as-of-yet, it was just as pleasing to see how Luca was healing and for this, I do recommend reading Broken Prince as it is sure to be quite the read as well.

However.  While I did thoroughly enjoy reading this story, and as there is so-much-incredible-meat to Dom and India’s background, for such a great need for their relationship, I needed more of their background as well as their developing relationship.  I didn’t quite feel as much of a connection with them until the very end and felt something was missing.  I felt that I knew more of the secondary characters than of the primary ones.

All-in-all, call me a sucker for dark and emotional mafia romances, but, regardless of a smattering of typos, the writing in this one was addicting with humanized, humorous, and, incredible characters setting the bar quite high for future stories of the Cosa Nostra Series.  I really liked it…:)

Simon Prentiss: Ex-football star, bitter rival, and…falling for the enemy?

Blurb
I hate my teammate, Parker Reed.
I hate that he makes me work so hard for my position on the field.
Hate how he always smiles. How easily he shows me up when I’m injured.

Most of all, I hate that he made me lose my temper.

Next thing I know, football is gone.
My scholarship is gone.
I’m nearly gone, too.

With help, I manage to stay in school for my final semester.
At least without football, I can explore a new side to myself.
See where my attraction to guys takes me without fear of it affecting my future.

I didn’t see it coming. The cosmic joke.
The sweet, patient guy on the hookup app?
The one who makes me burn with the desire to have him?

Yeah, it’s Parker.

Our chemistry is off the charts, no matter how much I resent him.
Holding a grudge against him is impossible.
But when he wants to walk away from everything I lost, can I accept it?

If I don’t, I’ll lose him too–and that can’t happen.
Because I don’t hate Parker Reed.
I think I love him.

Matched By My Rival is an enemies-to-lovers, jock rivals romance. It’s Book 2 of the Thrust Into Love series but can be read as a standalone.

Excerpt

The following excerpt is from Simon’s POV, when he realizes that his app hookup is actually his rival, Parker Reed.

This couldn’t be happening. Parker Reed? Parker Reed was my Thrust match? No, I refused to believe it.

“There must be some mistake,” I growled.

He didn’t back down. Parker wasn’t the type. But for once, his obnoxious grin was absent.

“No mistake. A surprise, for sure.”

I turned to Rhett, who was watching us with the fascination of a driver gawking at an accident scene. “I’ll close up if you let me take care of this.”

“Yeah, sure. Bar’s done serving. Knock yourself out, just…clean up the blood before you leave.” He cut his eyes toward Parker. “Whoever you are, I wish you the best.”

He exited the bar through a little section of counter that raised up, creating a gap. I held it open for Parker, jerking my chin toward the back room. “Let’s go.”

Parker chuckled nervously as he passed through the bar entrance, brushing against my chest. I could feel his body warmth, smell his aftershave, an earthy natural scent that suited him.

Heart pounding, I led him into the back room. Surrounded by boxes of liquor and kegs of beer, I whirled on him. “Did you know?”

“Wh-what?”

Parker appeared off-balance. Usually he was a smooth fucker.

“Were you playing me?” I demanded, crowding him against a stack of boxes. We were close to the same size, but I didn’t let it stop me from putting every ounce of threat I could into my voice.

“No!” The word burst from him, sounding incredulous. “How would I know it was you? We never shared personal stuff.”

“So it’s a coincidence?” I said skeptically.

“Yes. It’s a really awkward coincidence that the guy I—” His voice cracked, and he looked away. “I didn’t know.”

“Look me in the eye when you say it.”

Parker reluctantly looked at me, frustration blazing. “You’re such an asshole sometimes, Prentiss.”

A shocked laugh burst out. “Really?”

“Yeah, I know I screwed up, okay? I never should have gone to that party with Kristin. And obviously we wouldn’t be here if you knew it was me on that app. But you don’t have to interrogate me like a fucking criminal.”

A whole series of memories hit me. All those flirty chats. Those sexts that Parker had so patiently walked me through. I’d thought he was the nicest guy on the planet.

“Fuck me,” I muttered, looking away.

“Please stop saying that,” Parker said in a strangled voice.

I jerked my eyes back to his face in time to see a look of such lust it shot heat through my entire body. “What?”

“Fucking you is all I’ve thought about for weeks.” He laughed weakly. “Joke’s on me, huh?”

I couldn’t stop my eyes from making a slow perusal of his body. It was dark, but I could make out the shape of him. I knew how fit he was. Knew because we had practically the same body, the way we’d pushed ourselves in training. He was of a slightly leaner build than me, more flexible. I knew his body intimately too. A series of pics from his profile, and even more illicit ones he’d sent me directly, had filled in any blanks I might have had.

His chest rose and fell faster. When I raised my gaze to his face, he dragged the tip of his tongue over his dry lips.

And I lost it.

There was no thought, no reasoning. I’d spent weeks dipping my toe in the water, testing, evaluating. But now I was in the deep end.

I was ready to swim. Or maybe I’d drown. But if I did, I was taking us both down.

I crushed my mouth to his, shoving him harder into the boxes, and he grasped at my waist for balance, gripping hard enough to hurt. The pain only fueled my need. I grabbed his hair, short on the sides but longer on top, and yanked his head back to better devour his mouth.

Weeks of buildup, of flirting with my bisexuality and tempting myself to no end, exploded in a fiery inferno of need.

I didn’t care if it was Parker. I didn’t care that he was a man I’d blamed and detested. In some ways, it made it easier.

This wasn’t the love connection I thought it might be. It was unbridled lust, and I was just getting started.

Matched By My Rival (Thrust Into Love, #2)Matched By My Rival by D.J. Jamison

                                      “A Beautiful Enemies-to-Lovers Heart-Warming Story”

Gah..heart-shaped eyes and heated moments had me ultimately melting as a result of reading Matched By My Rival, by D.J. Jamison, as this beautiful enemies-to-lovers, heart-warming story slowly crept up on this reader, with its addicting and low-angst storyline of self-discovery and sacrifice, that had this reader glued and giddy, as Simon and Parker made their way through difficult times towards their forever dream.

With many uniquely wonderful and dedicated friends and family, this story was one that I really enjoyed as their inclusion was of acceptance and overall warmth for such a pivotal point in the lives of these two athletes.

Despite a smattering of typos, a little bit of confusion, and a need for a bit more football, I loved Matched By My Rival as the strength, love, and dedication of the main characters through such an important time was one that had this reader sappy and swooning throughout this welcomed read. I really liked it….:)

Sometimes love comes when you least expect or want it.

Magnus Carlsen is determined to grow old disgracefully. At fifty-two, he doesn’t believe in keeping anything. Men, sofas, books—everything gets jettisoned, eventually. He’s divided his life into happy compartments. A successful trial lawyer, he spends his days lecturing jurors, exasperating judges, and striding arrogantly around courtrooms. He fills his nights with a parade of handsome young men who want to make him happy. Why date someone his own age to discuss back pain, retirement-planning, and corns, when he can date men who don’t care to discuss anything at all?

However, when one of these sunny young men shows an inclination for dramatic scenes, Magnus meets his new neighbour. And his whole world implodes.

Laurie Gentry is nearly the same age as Magnus, but that’s where the similarity ends. He’s messy and creative and nosy and mysterious. He’s everything that Magnus has spent a lifetime avoiding. So, why can’t he get Laurie out of his head?

Luckily, Laurie is only in London for the summer. Magnus can uncover Laurie’s mysteries and indulge their annoyingly hot attraction, and Laurie will be gone before complications arise. A few months isn’t long enough to lose his heart. Is it?

From bestselling author, Lily Morton comes a romantic comedy about two footloose older men and how one summer in London brings something quite beautifully unexpected into their lives.

Excerpt:

He smiles cheerfully at me. “Are you ready?”

I blink. “I beg your pardon?”

“Are you ready for our walk?”

I rack my brain, trying to remember making plans. Then I realise that I didn’t. “Why would I be ready for a walk, Laurie?”

His expression is sympathetic but still somehow manages to look like he’s taking the piss. It seems to be a character trait of his. “For fresh air,” he says, slowly enunciating every word.

I roll my eyes. “I’ll open a window if I require that,” I inform him. Normally, I’d shut the door in his face. I have no problem with being rude. Today, for some unknown reason, I just stand here looking at him.

His mouth quirks and he claps his hands together. “Come on then, Mags. The day’s a wasting.”

“I’m not sure that my day was wasting in any form.”

“Were you working?”

I nod.

“It’s a Saturday. Your day was definitely being wasted. Come on,” he says. “Grab a jacket and your pension book and let’s go for a walk. It’s a lovely day”

“I do not possess a pension book,” I state. “Because I am only a few years older than you.”

“It’s not the age. It’s the mileage,” he says happily. “And those twinks of yours look like they could take a lot out of a person’s tank.”

I want to be angry, and indeed I open my mouth to blast him, but what comes out, to my amazement, is a huge laugh. He watches me, smiling, and when

I’ve finished chuckling, I wink at him. “I have a tank with a great capacity,” I inform him.

“Those who don’t, brag. Get your stuff and hurry up.”

Review:

Beautifully UnexpectedBeautifully Unexpected by Lily Morton

“A stuffy lawyer, an outgoing artist, and a humanized crazy loving dog”

I loved this story.  As a slowly developing opposites attract kind-of-friendship, with an ever-present cryptic mystery, which had me almost skipping right to the end out of fear, I knew I was in for a special treat.  With a beautifully unexpected languidly paced storyline, wonderfully dedicated characters, and quite the necessary humorous undertone, its greatness had been clinched early on and has now been slated as a top read for this reader.

Beautifully Unexpected, by Lily Morton, was like a gradual unveiling of an intrinsically beautiful shiny valiant knight led by a brightly lit ray of dedicated sunshine.  This was such a wonderfully addicting, winding, amazing story and I love Laurie and Magnus as their journey was a necessary and strong one led by many discoveries and heart-rending twists.

While there were a few confusing moments, and I had wished to read more of their new relationship, it was all so very beyond worth it.  Above all, like the most beautiful sunrise, I crazy loved Beautifully Unexpected….:)

Jaxson’s Nemesis by TL Travis (Arc) Review!

Jaxson's Nemesis (Maiden Voyage, #3)Jaxson’s Nemesis by T.L. Travis

“An enemies-to-lovers, heartbreaking, heartwarming, sizzling rockstar story”

Jaxson’s Nemesis, by TL Travis, is an exciting enemies-to-lovers, angsty, sizzling, humorous, heartwarming story that I really enjoyed.  The story sets off immediately with an already in place neighbor war of the senses.  One that sets the stage for shock and heartbreak. Both of which pave the way for change and strong willed redemption.

WHOOP! WHOOP!  The third story from the Maiden Voyage Series certainly packs a punch from emotionally heartbreaking moments to heated after affects of years of emotional suppression and the disturbance of a firmly placed wall, which serves as protection for a damaged and fragile heart.  This story is about two men who put their differences aside as a result of an electrical attraction that neither was able to deny.  One that unbeknownst to them, will help heal, mend, and guide both men to what both have been looking for for a very long time.

I continue to love the characters from this series, as well as the others from various interconnected ones, as their dedication, humor, and bantering make this story quite the addicting read.

Despite the existence of a lot of inner monologue, which does hide an important trigger, a need for more character development and story depth, in general as well as due to an abrupt ending, and a general need for more editing due to various typos, Jaxson’s Nemesis, was a super great story.  A story filled with down-to-earth rockers, beautiful music, and, deeply heartwarming and healing moments, ones that have this reader excited for more as I really liked it! 🙂

Meet Ryan, aka, Joey Hole, disgraced former adult entertainer with more issues than he can keep track of. His boyfriend left him for an Instagram twink with 150K followers, his Mum wants him out of her spare room and then there’s that idiot at college who just won’t take no for an answer.

Meet Luke. He was once the rich kid who’d just been gifted his first car, and now he doesn’t even own a bike. He’s also slumming it in a house full of ungrateful siblings and his first trip to the Food-bank gave him some goddamn emotional scars. Life is getting better though, and he’s acing it at college, as well as making some brilliant new friends. Well except for that stuck up twatwaffle Ryan who won’t talk to him and refuses to like his brilliant social media posts….

The first book in the new London Series. This series will follow the ups and downs of three couples living extraordinary ordinary London lives.

Excerpt

My headphones blasted music as I walked down the college corridors towards the on-site gym, where our first session today would cover gentle workouts for the older generation, a topic I found intriguing. I liked the idea of giving something back. Not that I had any contact with any of my grandparents. All except for my maternal grandfather had long departed, and I wasn’t even sure he still lived in the country. Family could be an unwelcome obligation, but if there was one thing I would fight for to the death, it was that Olive would never be sent to some goddamn boarding school and would never, fucking ever be looked after by our parents again. That was like…fuck. I was sweating just imagining the horror my little sister would go through. In any circumstance, it would never happen. She had us in her corner now, and we would bloody protect her to the end of the earth.

The gym was busy as always, a few people huddled over by the water dispenser, and there was muffled giggling coming through from the weights room, where I could see all the girls in our class bent over staring at the phone in Danielle’s hand. Well, all except Bridget, who stormed out and barged past me without saying hello.

“What did you do to Bridget?” I asked, squeezing down on the last remaining place on the bench and huffing in disappointment when Danielle pressed the screen against her chest and glared at me like I’d interrupted something private. I probably had, but as always, I didn’t have the sense to care.

“You don’t want to see this,” she said, an odd mix of excited and horrified.

“Why? Is it porn or something?” I didn’t know why I said these things, but Inez looked like she was about to cry.

The other girl, whose name I momentarily couldn’t remember, whispered, “Go on, show him.”

It was a shitty thing to do. A shitty thing to show any human being. Danielle shoved her phone in my face, and right there, filling the entire screen, someone’s arse was being pounded by one of the thickest dicks I’d ever seen. The sound was off, but from the way the owner of the arse was shaking, it must have bloody hurt. Not that the guy attached to the dick seemed to care, letting his thing slide in and out of the slick hole, which gaped and then clenched before the guy brutally shoved his dick back in.

They were two guys, that was clear. A sculpted stomach came into view as the bloke on the bottom was flipped over, and a curved dick bounced against his stomach.

I realised I was blushing, my face flaming in embarrassment. Not for me, because…it was porn. Gay porn, admittedly, but still porn. I really wasn’t into this kind of stuff in public, and anyway, who watched porn with a bunch of girls?

“Put that shit away before Mr Greenwood comes in and has you thrown out. For fuck’s sake, Danielle!”

“You need to watch it to the end,” she insisted, thrusting the phone back in my face.

“I really don’t want to.” I got up to leave, but Inez grabbed my arm and pushed me back down.

“You should know,” she said, turning even paler. “I don’t agree with Danielle showing it, but someone needs to tell him.”

“Tell me what?”

“No, not you. Someone needs to talk to Ryan.”

“For fuck’s sake.” I was in no way a worldly guy, but seriously?

“Ladies, I’m sure as a gay man, Ryan knows where to find gay porn if he feels the need. I’m not going to go tell him that you girls found gay porn on the big ugly web and feel the need to warn him there are men out there who want to stick their dick up his arse.”

“Who wants to stick their dick up my arse?”

That was Ryan, thank God, because I didn’t want to explain this shit on my own.

“The girls found porn on the web, and it’s done something to their brains.”

I was expecting him to laugh, but instead, he turned around and left the room.

“What’s going on?” I called after him as Danielle once again thrust the phone back in my face.

And on the screen was none other than Ryan, sticking his tongue out with a cheeky wink before swallowing some guy’s dick down his throat.

About the Author

Sophia Soames should be old enough to know better but has barely grown up. She has been known to fangirl over TV shows, has fallen in and out of love with more popstars than she dares to remember, and has a ridiculously high-flying (un-)glamourous real-life job.

Her long-suffering husband just laughs at her antics. Their children are feral. The Au Pair just sighs.

She lives in a creaky old house in rural London, although her heart is still in Scandinavia.

Discovering that the stories in her head make sense when written down has been part of the most hilarious midlife crisis ever, and she hopes it may long continue.
