Bad at LoveBad at Love by Aimee Nicole Walker

“An Exciting, Humorous, Heartbreaking, Beautifully Heartwarming Story”

Bad at Love, by Aimee Nicole Walker, is by far one of the best books of 2021.  Set as a romantic suspense story, with it’s exquisite cover, it leans more towards a soul-stirring romance.  I crazy loved it, as it’s gripping, emotional, and nail-biting moments kept me on the edge and I knew early on that I would already need more of this addicting story.

It’s suspenseful and heartbreaking plot is filled with persistent demons and down and dirty criminals, cut-off at the path by big and mighty US Marshals who pave the way for honor and justice.  I cheered, I squealed, I laughed my head off, and I actually ugly cried as it was such a over-encompassing read.

Ridge and Kendall were such incredible, cling-worthy, amazing, valiant main characters, each with their own gripping and gut-wrenching past and purpose, that the need for strength and hope could not be felt more as it had been either through the pages of my kindle or through their deep-seated connection.

Gah, I could not get enough of this interconnected story, as the twists and turns, heartbreak, dedication, sizzling heat, and stunning symbolism were spot on.  I so loved it to bits.

Even though it is somewhat of a spin-off from the Sinister in Savannah series, it’s not really necessary to read that series beforehand.  However, it is in this reader’s opinion that, it so really does, because the secondary characters of this particular story were so yummy addicting that those with cameos are bound to have stories that are just as good.

Bad at Love, is an exciting, humorous, soul-stirring, beautiful, incredibly heartwarming story with amazing characters that despite being a bit confusing, at times, collectively was such a fantabulous read.  I really, really liked it….:)

An Exciting, Emotional, and Heartwarming Shifter Story

Waiting for Raine, by Layla Dorine, is a captivating, indescribably gut-wrenching, incredibly beautiful, sexy, heart-warming, completely unputdownable read of three damaged and lost souls and the discovery of their true potential.  I loved this story as the bits and pieces of it came together in quite the mesmerizing heart felt read.

Wow.  What an amazing story with it’s gorgeous eye-catching cover and it’s gripping storyline that kept me reading even through it’s heart-breaking triggers and surprising twist and turns.

I adored the main characters, Gabriel, Aiden, and Raine, with their dedication, love, and absolute devotion for one another and newly found family members.  Even the secondary characters were just as addicting as their equaled strength and loyalty was so wonderful that it contributed nicely to the overall plot and storyline.  The beautifully unique world building, realistic dialogue, intermittent humor, and excitement was en pointe.

Gah, Waiting for Raine was such a heart-pounding, beautiful, exciting and emotional read that despite having a few typos, a need for a bit more development, and the existence of a few vitally important loose ends, I loved this story to bits….:)

Description

Every Gathering, Raine hides from potential mates, knowing that in a society where tri-bonds were the expectation, a wolf wanting a mate all to themselves was an anomaly.

Enter Gabriel. They’d met two years before, both left disappointed when no bondmark appeared on their wrists at that time. Gabriel’s been hunting, but there’s been no sign of Raine, outside of the one brief visit that didn’t end the way he’d hoped for.

Fast forward to the present Gathering. He’s stumbled onto Aiden, a wolf miserable in his own pack due to the way he’s treated. Born with a disability, he knows he can’t keep up, but no one has taken the time to teach him where his true potential lies—until Gabriel that is. Gabriel’s protective instincts kick in almost immediately.

Now Gabriel has one wolf he desperately wants to care for and another who has been hiding from him. Unfortunately, it might not be a challenge Gabriel is up for.

Midsummer, or, as most of the pack called the season, matesummer. Raine watched the vehicles pulling onto the grounds. Large motorhomes and SUVs packed with members of other packs flooded their lands for the gathering. Resting his cheek against the bark of the tree he was sitting in, Raine grumbled a stream of curses, a nearby squirrel angrily chattering his own stream of profanities back at him.

“Why does it always…have to be…a tree?” Huffing and grumbling preceded his brother Noah’s appearance beside him, a sour expression on his face as he gripped the branch overhead.

Shrugging, Raine looked away from his annoyed gaze and back toward the impending invasion. As soon as they got settled, all those foreign wolf scents would fill their lands and linger for weeks afterward. “I like trees.”

“I like trees too—to pee on, not to climb. We’re wolves, and wolves are supposed to keep their paws on the ground.”

“There are exceptions to all things.”

“Uh-huh.”

“What are you doing here, Noah? Shouldn’t you be curled up with Evan and Holden in your little love nest?”

He knew he’d failed to keep the bitterness out of his voice the moment his brother’s eyes narrowed at him and wolf amber momentarily replaced the gray.

“And yet I’m here. I wonder why that is.”

“That’s what I’m asking you.”

“I came to deliver a message, not that you’ll care. That big brown-and-white wolf from the northwestern pack is looking for you. I believe he said his name is Gabriel.”

For a moment, Raine couldn’t breathe. It was like Noah had sucked all the air out of the forest and left him digging claws into the branch of the tree to ground himself.

“How’d he look?” Raine gritted out between clenched teeth.

“At first glance, you’d never know he was in a fight that nearly killed him.”

“No one asked him to do that.”

“With the way he was always watching you and trailing you, there was no way anyone was going to tell him not to.”

Sighing, Raine scrubbed a hand over his face, his shoulder aching from how heavily he was leaning against the trunk. Butterflies and fear warred in his belly, clenched tight to keep from vomiting up his last meal. He would not think about the gathering two years past, or the mistake he’d nearly made in allowing himself to be claimed.

“Saw him struggle to lift his backpack with his left arm. It’s a wonder he can use it at all. I was certain he was going to lose it with as mangled as it was.”

“Shut up, Noah.”

Of course his brother didn’t listen. That was part of his charm. He was stubborn that way, always had been, even back when they were young pups and Raine steadfastly refused to have anything to do with their father, Noah’s mother, or the rest of their siblings. Alone. Scared. Grieving over the death of his mother, he’d become a snarling, feral thing, living in the small apartment at the back of the house that he and his mother had lived in for as long as he could remember. He’d bitten everyone who approached until Noah.

“My guess is he was still rehabbing it last year, which was why he didn’t show up to the gathering then,” Noah continued on, as if Raine hadn’t interrupted. “You should talk to him. It’s the least you can do.”

His brother was right, not that he planned to listen. Nearly going down that road once was bad enough. Never again. His mother had taught him better.

“He was alone, if that helps any. No mating marks on his wrists either, so it’s safe to say he’s still single.”

“So.”

“Stop pretending you don’t give a shit and take the second chance you’re being offered. I doubt you’ll get a third one.”

“Why can’t you stop meddling and drop it? For fuck’s sake, Noah, I’m not interested!”

“Could have fooled me, what with the way you called to check on him every day after he first went home.”

“And then I stopped, which should tell you something.”

“Yeah, that you’re clinging to an irrational notion put in your head by an irrational woman, who…”

“Do not talk about my mom!”

“Why? Afraid of hearing the truth?”

Snarling, Raine ripped a furrow in the wood. “Leave, Noah, before I forget how much I love you and throw you out of this tree.”

“You’re ruining your life; you know that, right?”

“No. Taking a mate and trusting that I would be their one and only would ruin my life. I won’t do it, Noah, and I wish you’d stop asking me to.”

“I’ll stop asking when you come to your senses and see that there is room in our hearts to love more than one person,” Noah insisted, not for the first time. In fact, he was sick of hearing it.

“Not equally.”

“Bullshit!”

“Do you really believe Evan and Holden love you as much as they love each other?”

“Yes, I do.”

“Then you’re a fool. They had three years together before they met you. Three years of memories, moments, and promises. No matter what you do, you can never catch up. It will never be equal.”

“If that’s all you think love is, then I pity you, Raine, I really do.”

The look on Noah’s face, disappointed, sad, left Raine momentarily upset that he’d put it there. Until he thought about his mother, her tears, the way she’d looked in the mirror, asking what was wrong with her that his father couldn’t love her. Asking why she’d never be enough. He’d spent his early years with a broken ghost who’d hug him one moment and scream at him for wanting to play with his siblings the next.

He’ll drown you the moment I’m not around to protect you, she’d rage, grabbing him by the arm, shaking him hard enough his teeth clacked together. Sometimes she’d forget her strength, or claws, leaving deep, bleeding marks in his upper arm or accidentally dislocating it. It had happened so many times he could do it at will now—a constant reminder of her pain.

“I don’t want your pity.”

“No, you never want anything, do you?” Noah glanced away from him, over to the slowly filling grove where the gathering would take place.

“Wrong. I want to be left alone.”

“Fine, wish granted, but I want you to remember this moment in ten years when you’re alone and sorry you blew your opportunity with someone who really and truly loves you.”

With those last words hanging in the air between them, Noah lowered himself to the ground, shifted, shook, and disappeared into the forest. Asshole! He’d be the one to see, in ten years, when he was living in an add-on apartment or back at Mom and Dad’s after his two mates decided there was no longer room for him in the relationship.

If only there was a way to ensure a pairing would never become a tri-bond. Then he’d happily go to Gabriel and explore the possibilities.

Another idea took hold then, as he watched awnings popping up on campers and people pitching tents. Maybe he should go to Gabriel anyway, talk to him and get it out of his system. Maybe they’d prove to be incompatible, and he could stop daydreaming about what it would be like to belong to someone. Hell, maybe he was just looking for Raine to curse him out about the fight. Hearing Gabriel say he hated him would go a long way toward helping him to stop dreaming about the man.

Decision made, he dove off the branch, somersaulting twice before hitting the ground in a crouch, sniffing.

Rabbit, squirrel, skunk, deer, moss, dirt, pine, rotting leaves, cinnamon…

Cinnamon?

That didn’t belong out here.

Nutmeg, dough, sugar…

Those definitely didn’t belong out here.

His nose led him back to the trail, fully aware that following it might mean running into strangers and pairs already getting a jump on the frolicking and fooling around portion of the event. A bunch of pups would be born ten months from now; that was for damn sure. And then what? Some pairs would end up trapped by those stupid bond marks. Others would raise their pups alone. Hell, he even knew of occasions where one parent took half the litter and the other raised the rest, siblings who never saw, or even knew, of one another until they met at a gathering, stunned to discover someone else who looked like them.

Bad at Love
By Aimee Nicole Walker

BadatLove-f900-web

Releasing October 14th

Bad at making decisions or bad at love? Either way, Kendall Blakemore doesn’t trust his judgment. He falls too hard, too fast, and always for the wrong guy. Needing a major shakeup, Kendall moves into his own place for the first time and seizes a new career opportunity. But everything he thought he wanted turns out to be the last thing he needs. When loneliness threatens to derail Kendall’s good behavior, he decides to rent out his spare bedroom. What could go wrong? Try a tenant who’s temptation incarnate.

Bad at commitment or born to roam? Either way, US Deputy Marshal Kurt Dandridge feels trapped. Maybe staying in one place for too long is the source of his unhappiness, or maybe it’s because he’s engaged to the wrong person. Finding his fiancé in bed with another man takes care of one problem but creates another. Ridge needs a place to live. He’d leave Savannah altogether if not for his vow to apprehend an elusive fugitive. Renting a room from Kendall Blakemore seems like the perfect solution until Ridge finds himself falling for the alluring man. Would one kiss derail his course? And could he stop at just one?

Hurts so good. Chemistry burns between them—hot, consuming, and impossible to ignore. And why should they? Kendall and Ridge are consenting adults who know the score. Being bad has never felt so good, but it’s a slippery slope to navigate. One misstep could have disastrous consequences for both men.

Bad at Love is a standalone novel within the Sinister in Savannah universe where both characters first appeared. It is not necessary to read that series first. Bad at Love is a romantic suspense that’s heavier on the romance than the suspense.

Excerpt from the brand-new Lovers at Dawn:

“Hungry?” she asked.

“I could eat,” he said.

“How about something more than trail mix and grapes?”

He chuckled. “Yes, please.”

She grinned. “There’s a really good noodle place near here. Or we could do pizza like we talked about.”

Now Caden was grinning. At the memory of their conversation, at the fact that she was doing just what they’d said, at the fact that it gave him hope. “Feed me pizza, Red.”

Makenna pushed into a sitting position beside him and laughed. “Okay, Caden Grayson, then let’s get dressed so I can put some slices in your pie hole.”

He grabbed her around the middle and hauled her back down against him. Laughter spilled out of her, and he loved it. “My pie hole, huh?”

“Yeah,” she said. “I grew up with three brothers, remember?”

“Oh, I remember, Makenna. I remember it all,” he said, kissing the soft skin of her neck.

She sighed. “This isn’t going to lead to pizza.”

Caden laughed. “No, I guess not. Damn inconvenient stomach.”

Makenna turned in his arms, her smile so bright and open. “I know, but we need fuel.”

Oh, he liked the sound of that. “Damn straight we do.” He gave her a slow, lingering kiss, making sure to rake his spider bites over her lip.

“I’m sorry, what were you saying?” she said, her voice all breathy and sexy.

“Pizza.”

“Right, pizza it is,” she said, sitting up again and scooting out of bed. Tussled hair fell over her shoulders. His T-shirt hung loosely on her body, her legs bare beneath. God, she was so pretty she struck him dumb. “Would you like to shower?”

Caden got out of her bed and stretched, getting hard again because of the way she was staring at him. Like she was starving. He stalked around the bed, laser focused on her.

“What?” she asked, grinning and backing up.

In one smooth motion, he bent and lifted her into a fireman’s carry.

She gasped and burst into laughter. “Why are you carrying me?”

He made for the bathroom. “I didn’t want you to get away.”

“I wasn’t trying to get away!” She chuckled.

“One can never be too sure,” he said, placing her gently on her feet in the big walk-in shower. And even though he said it as a joke, it was the damn truth. “Yes to taking a shower.” He stepped out of his boxers and chucked them outside of the stall, then stood and let her look her fill.

Makenna’s gaze raked over him, and he felt it like a physical caress. “I think I’m overdressed,” she offered, pulling his shirt over her head and dropping her panties until she was all beautiful naked curves before him. “Much better.”

All he could do was nod.

She reached for the water knob. “How hot do you like it?” She slanted her gaze at him with a sexy little smile.

“However hot you like it, Red.”

Water rained down on them, and steam slowly filled the space.

“I think…” She swallowed hard. “I think we might be a little delayed getting to the pizza.”

Vet Shop Boys, Book 1

It’s just a one-night stand, they said. It’ll be simple, no-strings fun, they said. They. Lied.

I’m done with love and being broken-hearted. The only dogs I want to deal with are the ones I treat in the veterinary clinic I work at.

But at thirty-four, having my first one-night stand can’t hurt. Right? The rules are pretty simple.

1. Don’t spend the night. 2. Don’t see him again. 3. Don’t share anything personal. 4. Don’t fall in love with him.

But when Haze, the guy I spent a blazing hot night with and haven’t been able to forget about, shows up as our new receptionist, the rules fly out the window.

There’s no way one night could lead to anything more. So why has Haze got me hoping this might just last?

Got Me Hoping is book 1 in the Vet Shop Boys series and can be read as a stand-alone. Expect plenty of humor, found family, an adorable golden retriever, a foul-mouthed parrot, a whole new way of getting clean (as well as very, very dirty) and a heartwarming happily ever after!

Excerpt:

All my bravado from the bar last night is gone. All that’s left are memories of an incredible night colliding with the bleary morning light of the day after. His eyes soften, and he leans in toward me right as I glance over at the table. Oh, shit. Noah was going to kiss me. I turn, inching my lips closer to his face just as he starts to move toward the kitchen. He backs up, but trips over his feet.

Not. Awkward. At. All.

“Plates,” I say, slapping my hands against my thighs way too hard. “Let me help you get some plates.” Yeah, because carrying two plates a few feet is definitely a two-man operation.

A few moments later, we start eating. I ended up carrying both plates and bringing the cutlery, too…so, that’s a good thing? Man, I really suck at this. There’s a reason why I never spend the night.

I haven’t had many hookups since Daniel broke up with me. With other guys, it’s always been sex followed by a quick goodbye. I never hung around afterward. One time I showered and watched half an episode of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, but that’s about it.

But for some reason with Noah, there’s a part of me that doesn’t want to leave. It makes no sense. We glance up at each other every so often while we eat, sharing a silent exchange that I can’t explain.

The only sound in the kitchen is us chewing and Buddy breathing loudly at Noah’s feet. I liked it a whole lot more when other sounds were filling the space around us. But I guess that’s all in the past. Once we get through the nominee for Most Awkward Breakfast at the One-Night Stand Awards, that’s all this will ever be.

A memory.

My heart sinks at the thought.

About the Author

I’ve been wanting to do this ‘authoring’ thing since forever. But this thing called ‘life’ kept getting in the way. And then this thing called ‘turning 40’ happened. Eep!

So I did what any responsible newcomer to middle-age-hood would do: I quit my day job, started drinking copious amounts of coffee, and reconnected with my life long passion–donuts, er, I mean writing.

So here I am. And there you are… Hello!

I live on the east coast of Australia, I’m the proud paw-rent of two of the most utterly adorable French Bulldogs, Ralphie and Lilly, and when I’m not writing, you’ll most likely catch me down at the beach (I’m the one drinking Rosé and eating donuts while other people are doing healthy things like ‘walking’ and ‘swimming’).

Mister Know It All
Amélie S. Duncan
(Cocky Hero Club)
Publication date: August 8th 2021
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Romance

A romantic comedy set in the world of Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward’s Stuck Up Suit

What’s a girl to do when she discovers that her boss/boyfriend (I don’t need a lecture, thank you very much!) is a cheating windbag?

Dump him and quit her job, of course.

After that, it was supposed to be the Summer of Me—a totally self-indulgent few months.

Except that I met a drop-dead gorgeous Viking with a bossy attitude.

We clashed on his arrogance and crassness, but geek bonded over Star Wars and Star Trek.

He offered himself as a no-strings-attached candidate for my get-my-groove-back sex plan, and I left because he already had a girlfriend, even if they were on a break.

But I couldn’t stop thinking about him.

I really, really needed to find someone less complicated, but he infiltrated my thoughts.

He was hot, after all (And his towel might have slipped on purpose.) Seriously hot.

No matter how many times I decided not to pursue anything with him, he kept showing a softer side of himself.

But we couldn’t keep going like that, neither here nor there.

Some decisions had to be made.

One that could change everything.

If someone had told me how my Summer of Me would end? I’d never have believed them.

But I regret nothing.

“I won’t change for him or any man. No matter how fab I treat them, they still cheat. Maybe I just need to focus on my career and let relationships happen later.”

“What you don’t need to do is waste your prime-time mourning losers. You need to have a passionate fling to get that windbag out of your system. A rebound could make you over, babe.” Hopefully my rebound, if I found one, won’t ask if I’ve come seconds after he does. Thank you, Randall. Pretentious, pipe-sucking ass.

My phone buzzed. Randall’s smug face popped up. Speak of the devil. I swiped the decline button. “He’s still calling.”

“Forget him. What you need is a good fling to recharge your ego. Reach in my bag and check my phone. My Tinder app should be accessible.”

I pulled up her handbag from the back seat and pressed her profile.

My mouth dropped open. “You kept this secret.”

Tam Nguyen—valedictorian, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, most likely to win a Nobel Prize for physics—had a raunchy profile with pictures of close-up body parts.

“What the hell, Tam? Some creep is copying this on his phone.”

She grinned and lifted her shoulder while keeping her hands on the wheel. “I don’t care. I’m not running for political office. Besides, women shouldn’t be afraid of expressing their sexuality.”

She took the ramp for the highway and increased her speed to join the traffic ahead.

I returned her phone to her purse and groaned. “I’m not ready to advertise or date again. Maybe time alone is good.”

“That’s feeling sorry for yourself bullshit. You fall off; you get back on. And before you find the guy who lives inside your heart, you recharge. I’m not talking about dating. Go to a bar or nightclub and hook up to get him out of your system. Just be safe. Find a man who turns you on. You’re not trying to date him, so you can be as shallow as fuck.”

“Don’t we always go for what attracts us?” I asked.

“Rhetorically speaking. But in reality, not all the time, and you know it. But this time, you do for sure. Kiss the guy in the bar to make sure you won’t end up with a sloppy tongue. Feel his junk under the table too. Or better yet, ask to feel his cock, like you can’t make it out of the bar without touching it, so you can make sure you’re on the same wavelength.”

I shook my head. “That’s your advice, grope a stranger?”

“You’ll thank me later. Trust me, it will save you the naked reveal.”

I howled with laughter. “You’re crazy. I’m feeling up random guys to find the cock-nirvana? I guess this is a bar I never want to return to out of sheer embarrassment.”

“Everyone goes to bars and nightclubs to hook up. Who are they to judge? Oh, and make sure you tell him you want to get fucked, not make love.” She said make love like it was a nasty word. “Keep the convo on sex. Don’t let him talk too much about himself. You don’t want this guy in your head.”

“Am I hooking up, or is this Silence of the Lambs?” I mused.

“These are trade secrets, darling.” We laughed.

Revenge sex aside, I still wasn’t completely sold on a mindless man-toy fling.

Special Release Excerpt:

Bratko’s face screwed up in pain, and the men pressing around him cheered. They’d all been urging on the other man, Gulliver, anyway.

Lev knew he should back off, should wait somewhere less obtrusive, but he didn’t. The only thing he could do was resist taking his hard cock in his hand. He couldn’t even blame the men pressing around him for his lack of movement, they were close, but he could worm his way out if he wanted.

Instead, he stayed, watched, and got harder.

“Want some help with that?”

He turned, looked up at a heavily bearded man wearing a leather harness.

“Touch me, and I’ll rip off your balls.”

The man nodded towards the room they’d been watching. “Well, I’m game if you are. I’ve never tried that, but it looks like fun.”

Lev’s gaze was pulled back to the playroom, and the heaving, thrusting man on top of Bratko. Sweat-slicked, lightly haired skin, flushed faces, and small, powerful movements. After focusing on where the two men joined, his gaze moved along Bratko’s muscular body. Face pressed to the blue flooring, mouth open as he panted in pain, no, that’s pleasure, he loves it.

As if he could feel Lev’s gaze, Bratko looked right at him, and his eyes widened in recognition. The spell holding Lev vanished, and the world came crashing back in. The club was too hot, the people too close, pressing in on him, drowning, pushing him under with their lust, their sinful flesh. He shoved backward, ignoring the disappointed calls of the bearded man for him to stay.

Lev almost stumbled on the steps of the club.

“You ok, mate?”

All he could do was bob his head, once, twice, at the two leather-clad men leaning up against the wall smoking. He needed to get to his car, needed to breathe air unpolluted by others.

“Did some fucker not do aftercare?” One of the men came towards him. “Come on; you can’t go wandering about alone when you’re in sub drop.”

Lev had his balisong out before he could think about it.

The guy held his hands up. “Ok, calm down, let’s talk about this. If someone did something you didn’t–”

Lev ignored him, headed for his car.

EXCERPT

“Oh God, James, o-hhhh…” My post-release slump back into the mattress is accompanied by a salacious smack of a pair of wet lips and a throaty laugh. “So much more satisfying than a cup of tea first thing, don’t you think?” James inches up my body, his face hovering over mine so close our noses brush against each other’s. “Get off me. You’ve got cum breath.” I do my best to look fierce, but as I’m still in an early morning post-climax fog, I very much doubt I’m succeeding. “Hmm.” James doesn’t attempt to move as he runs his tongue around his mouth. “I’ve also got a few pubes caught between my teeth.” “Well, I’ll book in for a wax, shall I? In the meantime, you can take your teeth out so you can properly unpick them. And give a better BJ.” I give him a hard shove and he topples off the edge, saved from totally crumpling onto the rug by one leg clinging to the bed — which I push off so the errant limb can join the rest of him. I peek over the side and look down at a very naked James, partially tangled in the duvet which went overboard with him. “I do not have false teeth.” He sticks his bottom lip out in a sulky pout. “I can’t believe this is the thanks I get for lovingly relieving you of—” “An extra few minutes of blissful sleep?” I’m grinning now because there’s no way I can’t. I’d give up minutes, hours, days and nights for James’ mouth on me. The horizontal workout he’s given me has left me both more relaxed and refreshed than the best night’s sleep  ever could — but it’s also put me off my guard as James’ sudden, out of the blue move has me tumbling out of bed. My breath’s knocked from me as I land on top of him. His arms tighten around me, their grip steel hard. I’ve no way out of his embrace even if I wanted it. James wraps his legs around my waist, his solid shaft pressing hard against my belly, and I suck in a sharp breath as he rolls his hips up into me and, even though I’ve just emptied myself down his throat, my cock’s already thickening. James kisses me hard, the taste of my release on his tongue thrilling through me as he rocks harder. The drag on my cock, trapped between our sweat-slicked bodies, is exquisite, mouth-watering agony. Messy kisses, spit smearing our lips, our breaths heavy and ragged, and hitching as our cocks slide across each other, slippery from our combined juice. But I need more. I pull back, and James’ arms around me loosen. Spitting into my palm I lock my gaze onto the dark and inky depths that have become James’ eyes. He’s breathing hard, and his lips curve up into a wicked grin as I wrap my hand around our— James’ mobile rings, slicing through the heated, lust-fogged air. Review: Coming Soon! 🙂

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I used to tell my stories to myself, now I tell them to the world…

The stories I only ever told to myself took place in a world where it was boy meets boy, where best friends became more, where the hero didn’t save the damsel but the hot guy he’d been secretly crushing on.

I wanted to read those stories. I craved to read those stories. But those stories weren’t out there. Or that’s what I thought… Until one Christmas, when I unwrapped a shiny new e-reader. All it took was a few clicks, and my world changed forever.

I found my tribe.

But there is life outside of MM & gay romantic fiction in all its configurations. Allegedly.

When I’m forced to switch off the trusty, faithful word machine, there’s a husband to feed and talk to, pubs to drink in, and cake to eat. I love to do all those things and more, before I rush back to write all the words.

I’m a Londoner, born and bred and even though I now live just outside of the big bad city, I’m close enough to hop on a train so I can get my regular metropolitan fix.

BLURB

I’ve been sent into the lair of the beast….

It should be a dream assignment—leave my boring day-to-day routine and travel to a seaside mansion to interview superstar author Jack R. R. Bestia. Who wouldn’t want that?
Me, that’s who.
He has a reputation for being reclusive and temperamental, but that’s not why I’m leery of the assignment. It’s because the first (and last) time I met Jack… well, let’s just say I didn’t make a good impression.
When I get to the mansion—which is more like a secluded castle—things don’t go much better. I’m sure he’s going to throw me out entirely. The only way I manage to squeak in is by signing a massive non-disclosure agreement. And I soon figure out why.
Jack has a secret—and it’s a big one.
Now that iron-clad contract I signed means I have to stay here until his long-overdue book is finished—and he’s not going to make it easy.
Jack acts every bit as beastly as the tabloids claimed, and I feel like a fairytale princess trapped in his tower. But every once in a while I get a glimpse of the charming (not to mention super sexy) man beneath the growly exterior and I wonder… could this beast be tamed?
Bookworm and the Beast is a full-length hot romantic comedy retelling of Beauty and the Beast. It’s a standalone enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, slow burn romance with no cheating or cliffhangers but plenty of humor and heart.

                                                                 Review:

Bookworm and the Beast (Eastport Bay Billionaires, #1)Bookworm and the Beast by Tru Taylor

                                       “An Enemies-to-Lovers, Humorous, Slow-Burn Romance”

An enemies-to-lovers, forced-proximity, humorous, slow burn romance between a bookworm and an author that every book lover strives to emulate.  This light take on the Beauty and the Beast fairytale classic is a beautiful one containing gorgeous descriptive writing, undeniable giggle-snort hilarious moments with hard-earned heartwarming and tender moments.

I really enjoyed Bookworm and the Beast, by Tru Taylor, as I’m a true fan of this kind of storyline.  Someone rescuing someone else who deems him or her self as unapproachable or somehow less than stellar.  These types of stories always are such heartwarming, addicting, and beautiful reads, that regardless of the characters, are always such a pleasure to read.

For obvious reasons, I loved this storyline and found myself living vicariously through Bonnie, as someone who reads and reviews books, for a living, and found it incredibly fascinating to follow along with not only her journey to that of a successful author, but also with popular author Jack, who is in this reader’s opinion, a cross between George R.R. Martin and somehow JL Armentrout as well.  I wanted to be one of Jack’s adoring fans as his books were realistic and squeal worthy, having been from the paranormal category, which is coincidentally one of my most favorite kinds of reads.

That being said, however, as an avid reader, I was so desperate for what had occurred off page during the time jumps and found the pace to be a bit rushed towards the end.  While the epilogue was a bit out-of-place, it was just as much of an interesting tease for the next book.  I loved the storyline and most of the characters, but needed more character background and development as well as more development as a whole, as I didn’t quite see a complete connection to the actual classic.

Bookworm and the Beast is a good, low-angst, heartwarming story, with realistic and admirable characters and beautifully wonderful moments.  I really liked it! 🙂

EXCERPT

Jack towered over me—so much taller and larger than I’d realized when I’d seen him sitting down at the book signing.

He was, in a word, intimidating.
“Uh hi,” I blurted, sounding as foolish as I felt. Nervous, I unconsciously rubbed the tapered end of the sleek award.
One of Jack’s brows lifted, and his gaze dropped pointedly to my hands. I glanced down at the distinctly phallic trophy I’d been caressing then turned again and quickly set the award back in its place.
Spinning back to face Jack, I attempted to salvage the awkward caught-in-the-act moment by sticking my hand out.
And babbling.
“It’s so nice to meet you. I’ve really been looking forward to this, and I hope you have, too, because I think this is really going to be great. Our readers will be really excited to hear what you have to say about the new book—I mean, no pressure to say anything in particular. I know how you feel about spoilers, and I’d never ask you to divulge any. Oh, I’m Bonnie Hamelin. But I guess you already know that.”
The good news was I’d managed actual speech this time. His arrival had been so sudden I hadn’t had time to work up quite as many nerves as the first time I’d seen him. The bad news was his answering expression could have incinerated me on the spot.
He didn’t take my offered hand but continue to scowl at me. “Yes, I know who you are, Ms. Hamelin,” he sneered. “You’re the interviewer. Which I believe means your purpose here is to interview me, not to invade my home and… fondle my private possessions.”
My nerves, combined with his use of the words “fondle” and “private” together made me giggle, which then made me blush in mortification.
Oh, good Lord. This wasn’t starting well. I was just grateful there was no chai latte nearby this time. The thought caused my gaze to drop involuntarily to the front of Jack’s pants.
I did hope he’d fully recovered from the hot-tea incident. It would be such a shame if such an obviously virile man were permanently—
Jack cleared his throat loudly.
Yanking my gaze away from his crotch and withdrawing my hand, I twisted it with the fingers of my other hand and forced a smile I hoped was both apologetic and charming.
“I’m so sorry about that. I’ve just never seen one in person. Or one so big. And you have so many. Awards. Not possessions. I mean, you do have some nice possessions. I was just talking about… the… award.”
Jack just kept staring, studying me as if I were a fascinating yet slightly repulsive bug. A dung beetle, perhaps.
Mrs. Potts, whose existence I’d completely forgotten in the last minute and a half, spoke up. “Jack?”
He shot her a heated side-glance then looked at me again. His scowl moderated into a more neutral expression. “Well?”
“Oh—it’s… very beautiful. And heavy.”
The scowl returned. “I wasn’t fishing for compliments about my award. Are you by any chance ready to begin the interview?”
“The interview. Yes. Absolutely. I’m ready. Let’s do it.”
He shook his head as if giving up on something. “Fine. Let’s get this over with.”
