Proud (DC Pride Book 1) (ARC) was graciously provided to me by the author for an honest review. I have voluntarily read this book and have provided my own opinion.

                                        “A Heartbreaking, Nurturing, Prideful Story..”  

An intensely gripping, heart-pounding story of hopes and prideful dreams took me on a ride full of dips and turns and slowly morphed into such a heart-warmingly beautiful read..

Proud, by Tatum West, is an immensely busy and important story for all readers and non-readers to consider reading.  It is a story containing a whole lot of heart-breaking angst and seemingly insurmountable moments that despite semi-frequent moments of peaceful respite and heat-filled chemistry, it had this reader consistently reading with varied levels of emotions throughout the story.

Proud is a very realistic and deep story with an overflowing storyline, a massively gripping plot, and, plentifully varied characters.  While it could be perceived as having too much of a plot with numerous sub-plots, amongst all of these layers, is a slowly-developing touching love story between Jesse and Will.  Two young men who meet, per chance, who wind up discovering such a strong need for love and support, as the difficult and harrowing times they are facing are too painful to confront alone and therefore need that all-encompassing, deeply rooted kind-of-support.  As the men learn the value of loved dependency, these times, which do involve multiple triggers such as domestic physical and mental abuse and familial bigotry, they both discover that through severely hurtful and debilitating moments, this radiating source of a love and comfort has provided that needed balm necessary for healing and quite the welcomed future.

First and foremost, I so love Jesse and Will..  I loved their friends-to-lovers, incredibly necessary, heart-warming story.  I giggled, cheered, teared up, laughed, got angry, and cheered even louder while fist-pumping right into the air, as I read.  I also really liked many of the secondary characters and hope for future books, as their own stories are just brimming with anticipation already.  On the other hand, I was also flustered..

Proud, by Tatum West, is an underlying great story.  But..oh boy..there is such a strong need for editing due to the existence of so many typos as well as that need for more.  This story somehow contains simple typos, missing words and phrases, a few general discrepancies, and, the frequent use of words and phrases that just simply do not fit with the actual sentences.  I also feel that there is a need for more depth and development as well as a need for some sort of attention to the recreational drug use as well as the unprotected sex.  For this, it is in this reader’s opinion, that, this large need for editing did play a part in the final review of this story.

While the story did contain some challenging moments for this reader, it also contained so many warm and fuzzy moments as well.  Once the clouds dissipated, and everything smoothed out, the storyline was actually a great one filled with diversely addicting characters, many of whom were wonderfully strong, and devoted loving characters who contributed nicely to this heart-warming, sexy, and pride-filled story..:)

“A Heart-Breaking, Gripping, and, Heart-Warming Read”

A sweet, heart-warming, squeal-worthy, yet absolutely gut-wrenching, addicting read has the emotions of this reader vying for attention as the after-affects of this new read vary between greatly stunned to a desperate needy state of warmed loving goo that teeter back and forth as a result of a recent read of a particular hockey team once again..

WHOOP!  WHOOP!  “He passes the puck to Anton..to Luca..and..what’s this??  What’s happening sports fans??  The lightening fast missile goes right back to Victor and he..he…SCORES!!!”  *fans cheer loudly*  This is what it feels like when I read a new story from one of my most favorite tropes..Hockey!  Pure excitement fueled by high-levels of adrenaline..YES!!  *fist pump*

For this, I may have screamed just a wee bit upon discovering the next release from the Chicago Blaze Series was due to come out because each of my reads from this series has been a great one..

Victor..oh sweetheart Victor..I have waited not-so-patiently, ever since the first book of the series, to read about this mysterious yet very intriguing character.  And, boy, it has not been easy to wait as there have been tiny snippets throughout the previous books as to the character’s great potentiality.  But..BUT…once his story presented itself, it’s overall storyline was so incredibly mind-blowing and beautiful and one of those that had me needing to squeeeze hug not only Victor but also sooo many other characters of this story.

Victor, by Brenda Rothert, was quite the read.  This friends-to-lovers story was such an endearingly heart-warming read that I actually didn’t mind it’s slow pace and slight steam.  But, one thing I can attest to are the shocking blast-in-the-face kind-of-moments that are typically rare for this reader and for this are generally avoided whenever possible.  This story has major triggers that were beyond shocking that blindsided this reader like a quickly moving intermittent and painful storm.  Moments filled with childhood abuse and illness, death, and, extortion were severely difficult to read.

I loved the overall theme of this story.  Victor, is a strong, gorgeous and mighty hockey player on the exterior.  But, on the interior, a deeply hidden tortured individual as he is a product of an indescribable childhood filled with pain, isolation, and abuse.  He is someone who, understandably, has spent his life looking for some sort of validation that he is actually worth more than what he had experienced.  In his quest for that security blanket kind of love, comfort, and success, he runs into Lindy.  As a walking encyclopedia of hockey knowledge, this hard-working, multi-talented, humble, kind concession stand worker, Lindy turns into this Florence Nightingale of warmed-comfort for Victor just at the right time, as the beginning of the end for him, in more ways than one, was quickly approaching.  As discussions at the rink turn into dinner and movies, as both seemingly different individuals begin to unearth actual similarities, quiet insecurities and hidden fears turn into a strengthening loving bond for them both..

Throughout this story, there were plentiful cameos from characters from previous books, and, it was no surprise how much I continue to squishy-love the main and secondary characters from this series.  They are all wonderfully realistic and unique that it is super easy to quickly become addicted to their lives as well.

Therefore, like a frigid blast to the face during a blizzard, as I read through this story, full of so many sub-plots, some that were massive and heart-breakingly brutal, it was difficult for this reader to completely understand the purpose of some of them and their connection to the main plot as that which was indicated was slight and limited.  With a need for more depth and development to some of the sub-plots as well as the actual main plot, a true connection between the main characters as well as an overall storyline connection would be more clear.  It is also in this reader’s opinion that to have the actual moments described in detail rather than glanced over would be beneficial for that overall well-rounded connection between the characters and the actual storyline as well.

Despite the shocked confusion of this storyline, in the end, it was truly an intrinsically beautiful, gripping, and, heart-warming story.  There were so many uplifting and encouraging security-blanket type-of-support, that these loving times had me gushing all over my kindle.  I adore the main characters from this series and am glad to have read more of their hockey world..:)

I love the idea of being in love. Since my early teens when I first discovered Silhouette Desire novels my life has been all about reading. I would find myself re-writing scenes if I wasn’t happy with them and hiding them under my bed. That led me to writing love stories of my own. An exquisitely beautiful and tragic story about a young immensely tangible forever kind-of-love, filled with loss and desolation, dedication and sacrifice, and, absolute whole-hearted devotion..

Wow..a powerhouse of a story that utterly blew-me-away with its heart-warming, indescribably heart-shattering, profoundly gripping, and mysteriously intense moments has just landed on my list of Best Reads for 2019.

I am thoroughly and completely frazzled at the magnitude of my most recent read of an upcoming story that will undoubtedly have many readers at different levels of stunned amazement as a result of this tremendously deep, mysterious, heart-breaking, and, ultimately heart-warming story.

My Blue, by Emery Jacobs is such a great story with an amazing storyline with a no-holds-barred kind of riveting plot, with main and secondary characters who are so easy to love and also so easy to develop that actual need to gently throttle.  Its pace and fluidity contained words with such humanistic qualities that in turn languidly wrapped themselves around me as I read through this stunning story with its immense storyline, unforgettable characters and vigorous plot.

Even though this story was such a great read, it also contained moments that, in this reader’s opinion, needed more depth and development as they appeared to be either glanced over with seemingly uneventful or lightly touched upon solutions, and for this, with the existence of a few typos, has this reader hoping for more.  Despite this hopeful need, this story still remains a good one that is without-a-doubt a highly-recommended read as I really liked it..:)

“A New Heart-Warming and Sexy Daddy/lg Read..”  

I’ve always looooved stories which contain a daddy/lg trope and find that most of them always have me in such a gushy mess after reading because they ultimately have such an underlying beautiful theme and this upcoming release proved to be no different.  It’s storyline, characters, and plot melded into a gripping story of love, dedication, and, sacrifice.  Despite it being a novella, its contents proved to be one hefty combination for such a satisfyingly great read..

Daddy Me, by Ker Dukey and K Webster is a heart-breaking, sizzling, gripping, heart-warming, uplifting, and, humorous read of an indirectly dominant, successful and protective man and a talented, needy young woman as they discover their prospective need for the other in very similar yet very different ways.  An almost insta kind of connection enables the success of many, as Ronan, a strong, kind, and nurturing young man finds it upon himself to extend his proverbial wing enabling many to be guided down their own righteous paths toward their own form of happiness.

Wow..Daddy Me was such a great read!  I loved the storyline, all of the characters, and, found the plot to be one of those that had more than the typical controlling and dominating aspect as it also contained a highly influential form of protecting, guiding, and, an overall sense of kindness, with..a whole lot of heat and kinkiness thrown into it all as well.

It doesn’t come often that I come across daddy-esque types-of-stories with that added ingrained need for nurturing and support, with sexy, chemistry-laden, testosterone-filled, inked, manly-men and so when I do…I’m all in.  *Pfft* I’m so all in.  Even though there were some aspects of the story that, in this reader’s opinion, were either a bit confusing or in need of a bit more depth and development, and there seems to be a few typos, I really liked it and recommend it for all who enjoy a good daddy read..I really liked it 🙂

“An Intensely Gripping, Sizzling, and, Heart-Warming Read”     

A highly addicting, heart-breaking, intensely gripping, unbelievably sizzling, beautifully emotional, heart-warming read that kind of came at me from all different angles, with its favored storyline, that I always seem to enjoy with its ability to bring out all of the feels from this reader, is one that surprisingly had even more to it in more ways than one..

Share Me, by Ker Dukey and K. Webster, is an intensely erotic and gripping read with many heart-felt warm and hopeful moments which contain wonderfully protective tattooed strong alpha young men and an extremely sheltered young woman.  During years of service, the walls begin to close in on them, and as things don’t always seem as they are, the mercury begins to rise for the group..and..so does the patience of many..

WOW…that was one read that was not what I had originally had expected for so many different reasons.  As I gravitated towards this fairly recent release due to previous similar reads by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake, this was one that I HAD TO read.  I loooove stories with multiple characters in an almost harem type-of-representation.  They have this warm, protective, “I will do everything for you” type-of-storyline.  These are frequently massively addicting great reads for me.  This one was very similar but..quite different.

First, I absolutely adored the male alphas of this story!  They had this yummy testosterone filled uniqueness to them all that had me practically hugging and..quite possibly licking..my melting kindle because they were just so massively beautiful, intrinsically warm, humorous, and super supportive that I just could not get enough of Sebastian, Ford, Leo, and Zac.  In addition, while I had admired the female main character, Clove, she was like a quickly developing young woman who had various attributes that I had liked and am super glad of the existence of her guardians..

As mentioned briefly, this was a different type-of-story, in that, the plot was a lot to handle.  And, I mean A LOT.  I thoroughly enjoyed many aspects of it.  I loved the protectiveness and the discovery of their overall connection and absolute love that had existed between the five of them for years.  I also thought the secondary characters were positive additions to the plot, a select few questionable.  I did, however, feel that the absolutely incredible heat-filled sizzling times were often a bit much.  And, this is something that I never, ever say.  But, in this case, it is in this reader’s opinion, that it very often was.  As of a result of the unprotected sex without discussions, the frequent pain and infrequent use of lube, as well as the overall sense of constant availability were severely over-the-top moments for this reader.  These moments could quite possibly be considered as triggers for many readers.  In addition to these moments, the need for more depth, development and clarity to the characters and to the plot, because there was, at times, shocked confusion, and for this further editing is highly recommended by this reader.

Share Me, by Ker Dukey and K. Webster, contains a great storyline and an addicting plot, with numerous mouth-agape type-of-twists with strong and attentive characters, that had this reader voraciously reading for answers to blaring questions.  While there were many difficult to read moments, it is in this reader’s opinion that future readers proceed with caution when reading this story.  Even with that having been said, there were also warm and wonderful moments which have this reader glad to have read this story..:)

                           “An Intensely Gripping, Sizzling, and, Heart-Warming Read”     

A highly addicting, heart-breaking, intensely gripping, unbelievably sizzling, beautifully emotional, heart-warming read that kind of came at me from all different angles, with its favored storyline, that I always seem to enjoy with its ability to bring out all of the feels from this reader, is one that surprisingly had even more to it in more ways than one..

Share Me, by Ker Dukey and K. Webster, is an intensely erotic and gripping read with many heart-felt warm and hopeful moments which contain wonderfully protective tattooed strong alpha young men and an extremely sheltered young woman.  During years of service, the walls begin to close in on them, and as things don’t always seem as they are, the mercury begins to rise for the group..and..so does the patience of many..

WOW…that was one read that was not what I had originally had expected for so many different reasons.  As I gravitated towards this fairly recent release due to previous similar reads by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake, this was one that I HAD TO read.  I loooove stories with multiple characters in an almost harem type-of-representation.  They have this warm, protective, “I will do everything for you” type-of-storyline.  These are frequently massively addicting great reads for me.  This one was very similar but..quite different.

First, I absolutely adored the male alphas of this story!  They had this yummy testosterone filled uniqueness to them all that had me practically hugging and..quite possibly licking..my melting kindle because they were just so massively beautiful, intrinsically warm, humorous, and super supportive that I just could not get enough of Sebastian, Ford, Leo, and Zac.  In addition, while I had admired the female main character, Clove, she was like a quickly developing young woman who had various attributes that I had liked and am super glad of the existence of her guardians..

Trevor stood on the stoop staring at the dark blue painted front door. The house was a modest two-story, the yard well-maintained, the landscaping professionally done. The paved driveway was empty, and he only hoped that the two-car garage held Damon’s car as he knocked on the door.

After the other night at the bar, it had taken every bit of strength and determination he had to show up at the man’s home. But he couldn’t give up so easily. He understood Damon’s anger. In fact, Trevor embraced it.

Simply because he deserved every drop of it.

But he couldn’t move forward unless Damon forgave him. Even if his former lover wouldn’t accept him back, wouldn’t give him a second chance, his soul might settle a little with forgiveness.

Even so, Damon didn’t owe him anything.

Trevor closed his eyes and pressed his fists to the sides of his thighs.

No matter what, he couldn’t keep standing in front of Damon’s home pitying himself.

But he struggled to pull himself from that darkness caused by missing a man so deeply that it was crippling. Damon had always been his light that kept that restlessness at bay, until Trevor had done something stupid and extinguished it.

As he lifted his hand to knock again, a car pulling into the driveway had him turning his head. The garage door lifted as the black Lexus sedan with tinted windows remained in the driveway, even after the door was open.

Trevor waited. The car waited.

Trevor’s heart thumped heavily in his chest, but he couldn’t make himself unfreeze his feet from the concrete stoop.

Then the engine revved slightly as the car pulled into the garage. Before Trevor could force himself to move, the garage door closed.

He remained at the front door, willing it to open.

Fifteen minutes later, he nodded, whispered, “I’m sorry,” turned on his heels and went back to his car.

Damon wasn’t ready to forgive him.

Quite possibly, he might never be.
