Blade: As the lead singer of Hard Core, I’ve been taught several key life lessons. Unfortunately, I’ve also ignored many of them in the last twenty minutes alone, which is why I’m now being chased by a horde of crazed fans.

But my worst misjudgment today? Going outside in public without security or a backup plan. Screaming fans come with the job and the fame is as much of a blessing as it is a curse, but I still couldn’t imagine doing any other line of work.

Music owns me and I am happy to be her bitch.

Nico: I knew who he was as soon as he burst through the front door of my store and I was absolutely starstruck and speechless. Yes, me with my own hardened attitude and jaded outlook on life had lost the ability to talk in the presence of Blade.

I’m an ex-con. I paid my debt to society, and I have my own brand of scars to show from the time I spent behind bars. My life’s regrets stain my soul as much as the ink of my tattoos color my skin. Solace for me came with ownership of a bookstore. It was a peaceful place to work until a certain rockstar blew in from the street like a Category 5 hurricane.

Hurricane Blade was about to make landfall and I wasn’t sure I’d survive the storm.

A Rhythm You Feel (The Rock Gods: East Coast Label #1)A Rhythm You Feel by Ann Lister

                               “An Exciting, Heart-Warming, Music-Infused Story..”

WHOOP!  WHOOP!  Call me a guaranteed reader when it comes to stories containing rockstars, sizzling chemistry, giggle-worthy secondary characters as well as beautifully descriptive scenery, because it’s a given that I will practically drop all other reading just to read them because chances are..they will be SO GOOD.  Well, my latest read was exactly that.

My latest read was such a good story with a great storyline, wonderful characters, and, an enticingly exciting and rock-the-walls kind of plot.  As a lover of reading as well as of music, this new story had so much going for it that I felt like I was a groupie hiding somewhere in the shadows of a super gigantic popular band..it’s writing was that realistic and thrilling to read.

A Rhythm You Feel, by Ann Lister, was an adrenaline-filled, exciting, fist-pumping, heart-warming, heart-breaking, all encompassing lengthy story.  I really enjoyed it as it is one those stories that kind of sneaks up on you days later with thoughts of it’s sweet and dedicated characters and it’s hidden and comforting storyline.  One of the components of this new story that I found to be perfectly done was the incorporation of actual music within the story.  The band studio time, practice, concerts, and, certainly the lyrics were all excellently written and had this reader reminiscing about all of the concerts that had been attended, thereby enabling me to enjoy those parts even more.  I loved the main characters, many of which wound up growing on me, as the story had progressed.  But then..then there were those who I had LOVED from the very first page.  AND…can we say holy-hotness batman??  The cameos made from characters from previous books were beyond amazing, and that comes from someone who hasn’t even read any of them as-of-yet.  Readers of The Rock Gods, Guarding The Gods, and Social Sinners..will be in for a treat!

As mentioned briefly, I greatly enjoyed the main characters, Nico and Blade, and, found their story to be one that was a slow creeper as the story had progressed with an ever-present simmering chemistry that melted the pages of my kindle.  I found their story to be an alluring and engaging one with it’s uniquely developed plot with a combination of an ever-present incomprehensible mentality and a knowledge of acceptance from one, and a seemingly needy and, at times, desperate necessity for the other for absolute completion from the other.  I loved how both were readily available for the other, most of the time, as each attempted to battle difficult highly-intense situations.  I also loved how they were perfect for the other, one being that peaceful balm for the other’s jittery mentality.  Rock’s biggest bad boy and a quiet hard-working bookstore owner and their own form of Ying and Yang was gorgeous.

That being said, however…I so very much had wished for more depth and development for both characters as each had such detailed backgrounds that would have proved interesting and valuable.  I also had wished for more of a distinction between the two men as individuals and not only as the persona.  Throughout most of the story, I had needed more of the actual men, one more so than the other, for that solid and completed connection between the two characters.  It wasn’t until the very end that I had actually experienced that distinction at which time I may have whisper-shouted, “YESSSS!”

A Rhythm You Feel, by Ann Lister, was no doubt an exciting and beautiful story, with such an intrinsically gorgeous title, a story chock full of larger than life rockstars, their families and partners, with…the occasional outlandish groupie, as well as ground thumping music.  Despite the need for more depth and development in various areas, this is one invigorating and moving read that I was so glad to have read..:)
