She can’t trust him…or her desire for him.
Marnie Ducello is way past second chances. Most days she’s fighting to forget the past and stay sober—a combination she doesn’t always pull off. She’s done waiting for Prince Charming. So when a sexy stranger turns out to be an arrogant, cab-stealing jerk, Marnie isn’t surprised. If only her rash reaction to his rudeness hadn’t resulted in her arrest. . .
Singer Danny Roland is no prince. He has fame, fortune, and a not-so-hidden addiction. He’s running from memories of the lives he’s ruined. Keeping his personal demons under control and out of the tabloids is what Danny wants more than anything. After a simple drug deal goes very wrong, Danny decides to make karmic amends—by finding the woman he abandoned to the police. Marnie’s a recovering addict, too, so he offers her the deal of a lifetime: a job as his personal assistant and a safe space in his home to live in if she stays sober.
Marnie is soon swept up into Danny’s world of prying paparazzi and vengeful exes. She can’t help the burning attraction between them, but she can’t trust Danny—or herself. And when Danny’s brother begins to pursue her, Marnie and Danny must both come to terms with the painful secrets that haunt them. They’re both broken…but maybe together they can be unbreakable.

*The Prince’s Plan (ARC) was graciously provided to me by the author, E.M. Youman, for an honest review.*

                                            “Richard Gere Meets Superman”

You can’t judge a book by it’s cover. I always thought this as being true on so many different levels. Whether it be with individuals, television programs, or even with books, that saying is so very true. So very true when it comes to the book, The Prince’s Plan.

When I was provided this book for review, I glanced at the cover and did a fist pump right into the air. I even shouted a loud and mighty, “YESSSSSS!” I did so because I love stories about the monarchy. Stories about kings, queens, and princes have always been a favorite of mine. *crickets* Wait for it… Wait. What? Whaaat? This book is NOT about kings and queens and princes like the ones from those Hallmark movies that are always on during the holidays?? *Sigh* Well. Don’t I feel silly and sad that this is not what this book is about. Going by the beautiful cover, I truly thought that it was about a prince who was trying to re-evaluate his life while traveling around the world. That’ll teach me to go into a book without reading the little snippet beforehand.

So, no, you definitely cannot and should not judge a book by it’s cover, regardless of how beautiful it is and how much it draws you into the book. Covers are important, so tread carefully before jumping eagerly into the new story that awaits you. But, go for it because chances are that there’s a great story that awaits you..You may need to dig for it, but, it’ll be there.. 🙂

The Prince’s Plan, by, E.M. Youman, is a very long heart-wrenching story about a young man, Danny Roland, a singer with a huge heart, who is desperate to rid himself of his demons. As he begins to see the light of wanting a fresh and good life, he is magnetically confronted by a young woman who has had a somewhat similar past.

This young woman, Marnie Ducello, has the appearance of someone who is in need of some serious help. As Danny proceeds to don his big red cape, a seemingly endless river of constantly flowing events prohibits the two of them from meeting at first glance. Throughout the book, Danny goes above and beyond to try and kick his demons to the curb for good, all the while simultaneously trying to help Marnie as well, regardless of her selfishness and often reckless and clueless behavior.

This book is a dark book. It definitely is. It’s primarily a dark book with a very tough subject matter, with the romance between the two main characters at the very last 1/4 of the book. It’s primary characters have demons, one having a more secure grasp on them, while the other..has some serious growing up to do. The book seemingly contains an endless series of events which severely hinders the progress of the two individuals. It was a seriously trying experience to read, but, one in which I found myself frequently cheering for individuals for when they were genuinely successful at kicking the demons in the ass. Other times, I had wondered what was running through the author’s mind when writing a particular scene(s).

The secondary characters..hmm..what’s to say about them…ultimately, there are really three of them who I truly like, and one of them has four legs. The others really..need to..figure out how to fix their own lives by learning from their own mistakes.

While I found the writing to be long and detailed, with a few warm-fuzzy moments, I did find there to be numerous spelling, grammar, and general typo kinds of mistakes interspersed throughout the book, and, would recommend another edit run through.

As it’s been stated that this young man was not a prince, well..I beg to differ strongly with that. He definitely is a prince. While it’s not one with a yellow sparkly crown, he is a prince who’s at a cross-roads in his life. While at this particular juncture, he decides to take the high road with family, friends, and loved ones, all the while battling probably the most difficult demons there are. Because of this, I just want to give him such a big and squishy hug and say that you’re doing great and you’ll be just fine. Because that’s the truth..and I know he will be..:)

*star rating: 2 ‘okay’ stars: There were significant number of things I didn’t like that negatively impacted my overall enjoyment, though I may still have liked some parts of this book.
