This is the first book in the True Bliss series. However, it can be read by itself (stand-alone).
Michael Dwyer has it all. He's good-looking, tall, popular, and is one of the best football players his small Minnesota hometown has ever seen. He's being courted by the NFL draft out of college. Michael also has a deep, dark secret that could endanger his life and career: he's gay. And the man of his dreams turns out to be his teammate and rival quarterback, Terrence Richmond. Will Michael survive his bid to become an NFL star and get out of his hometown, or will the pros discover his secret and tear him apart?
This book contains sexually explicit content not suited for those under the age of 18. The book is approximately 25,000 words, has a happy but realistic ending and does not end in a cliffhanger

**Go Deep (ARC) was graciously provided to me by the author, Sam Elswit, for my honest review.**

Go Deep, by Sam Elswit, is a story that made my heart grow and expand even more for every single person of the LGBTQ Community. The primary theme of this book touches lightly upon the struggle, to try and fit-in with society, which exists for so many. A struggle that shouldn’t be present at all, but unfortunately does. Go Deep is a story about a young man who grows up in very difficult times, through ignorance as well as homophobia. My heart breaks for this young man numerous times throughout this story.

Michael Dwyer (MC) is a wonderful, strong, kind, thoughtful and caring individual who craves survival. He does what he has to just to be able to be the person who he wants to peacefully be. Throughout his life, Michael lives the best he can. He battles his way through many trials and tribulations, and finally discovers who he truly is. During the very important early years, he begins to learn who he is and the best ways to survive. One of the most important things for Michael, is his happiness. So, he finds something that he enjoys that also makes him happy. I believe that in today’s society, there are many individuals who would be able to relate to what this courageous young man is trying to do.

While there are many parts of the story that are not completely believable, nor did I particularly care for them, story or no story, there are many parts which do bring on the warm-fuzzies and tears. I actually did find myself cheering for Michael and his new friends.

Go Deep is a story with a good premise. There is potential. I applaud the overall theme of survival and acceptance. I feel that it should have a more believable secondary theme with more overall development, structure, depth, and a good cover, along with more well-rounded secondary characters.

Go Deep is a much needed story for many readers to not only escape to, but, to also acquire the knowledge on how to begin to try to survive themselves. Survival in a, at times, stringent society proves to be a great challenge for many, and, they need something to escape to as they continue to live in an ever-changing society. I am certainly glad for the existence of anything good that will help people remain in their “happy place.” 🙂
