Let There Be Snow by Charlotte Rains Dixon; Book Blitz w/ Synopsis, Teaser, Giveaway!

Let There Be Snow
Charlotte Rains Dixon
Publication date: November 3rd 2022
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Holiday, Romance

Christmas isn’t Christmas without snow.

So Dixie Dunham believes.

But she’s about to experience a Christmas with nothing but cold, gray rain after taking a job at the Starlight Winery in Pineview, Oregon, smack in the middle of wine country. Dixie likes her new job at the winery and she’s hoping owners Jamie and Ernest will soon name her to the position of national sales manager. She’s certain the proposal she’s working on for a city-sponsored contest will cement her claim to the job. That would be something to impress the friends and family she left behind in New York.

And Dixie is desperate to impress them, seeing as how she fled after her fiancée jilted her at the altar in favor of her maid-of-honor best friend. Now as the December days shorten and darken and Pineview celebrates the season with lavish decorations and festive events, it’s hitting Dixie hard how much she’s lost. All she has left besides her job is the company of her loyal dog, Bo. And a Christmas without snow.

When Jamie and Ernest introduce her to their good friend Max Pettigrew, who has just moved from Paris back to Pineview after a wrenching divorce, she’s instantly attracted to him. But Max Pettigrew never met a woman he didn’t want to flirt with. All in the strictest of innocence, of course. Too bad what he thinks is charming flirtatiousness is off-putting to Dixie. Ridiculously handsome he may be, but he’s also ridiculously annoying. And she does not need more annoyance in her life. When the two of them turn out to be vying to win the same city contest, her annoyance turns to anger. But Max grows more determined to win her over, inviting her to the Pineview Christmas parade and holiday parties, and turning to a stream of self-help books to help improve himself.

Can Max mend his entitled bro ways? Will Dixie get her promotion, and perhaps more important, her snow at Christmas in rainy Oregon? Let There Be Snow, a novella, launches November 3, 2022. Stay tuned for pre-order information.

SNEAK PEEK:

Two steps remaining, someone appeared at the bottom of the stairs and startled Dixie. Her foot slid and she missed the step, landing awkwardly in front of the human who stood waiting to walk up.

The human who was a male in a brown wool coat dripping with water. The human who had rich brown eyes that smoldered as brightly as the tasting room fire, a graceful long nose, and a mouth that was now wreathed in an ear-to-ear smile. The human who had a thick head of chestnut hair, with one lock that fell over his forehead in a boyish way. The human who now reached out a hand to steady her and said, “Oh, I’m so sorry, I startled you. Are you okay?”

He was tall, really tall. She batted away the comparison to Tate, who had been short, shorter than Dixie herself, and for whom Dixie was always slumping so as not to be taller. Beneath this man’s overcoat a starched light blue shirt draped his broad shoulders and chest in a perfect fit, and his tan slacks fell from his waist in a sleek line.

He was ridiculously handsome. Stupidly handsome.

Except then she realized. He was Jamie and Ernest’s next appointment. Most likely a rival candidate for the marketing director job. Her job. She shook off his hand. “I’m fine.”

“You sure are,” he said.

Oh, for God’s sake. Really? Had he really just said that? She rolled her eyes.

But he still gazed down at her. “Really, really fine.”

“What are you, a relic from the dark ages?” she snapped. This man was totally riling her, despite his good looks. Maybe even because of his good looks.

His smile didn’t waver. “Just a man who appreciates the finer things in life.”

“Me too, which doesn’t include jerky men.” Dixie moved to step around him. She had to get away from him. She was being rude, and that was unprofessional. If her bosses heard her, it would be another black mark against her.

“Oh, don’t go without an introduction.” Unfortunately, his voice was as rich and deep as his eyes. He held out a hand. “Max. Max Pettigrew.”

She sighed and shook his hand, then withdrew it as quickly as possible. “Dixie. Dixie Dunham. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have work to do.”

Luckily, Ernest’s voice called from the top of the staircase. “Oh, there you are, Max, you’re just in time.”

“For what, the vampire ball?” Dixie asked.

Damnit, she’d done it again.

“Oh now, do we have to be so harsh?”

The words came out of her mouth before she could stop herself. “Oh now, yes. Yes, we do.” She couldn’t help it. She’d had enough of men, especially those of the handsome, entitled, arrogant variety, to last her a lifetime. “We really do.”

Footsteps sounded on the steps and Ernest called down. “You ready?”

“I thought I was but now I’m not so sure,” Max said, then zeroed in on Dixie again. “I’ll have you know I’m attending the Christmas play that the Mapson twins are appearing in.”

“Try not to spoil the holiday cheer. I’m outta here.” Dixie made her escape.

“Was it something I said?” Max called after her.

“Damn right,” Dixie muttered as she stomped away. Air, she needed air. “Taking a quick break,” she called to Kate, and grabbed her coat and Bo’s leash. Outside, the rain had stopped but judging by the black clouds along the western horizon, it looked to be a brief respite. She led Bo up the path that snaked alongside the vineyard plantings to the top of a small rise. For the moment she could catch a glimpse of the spectacular view from the winery—green rolling hills, many covered with now-brown vineyards, others featuring farmhouses snuggled into them. It was a view she never tired of, even if she did wish the green would turn to white once in a while.

She inhaled the fresh Oregon air. Damnit, she’d done it again—gone apeshit irritable over nothing important, just a stupid man. Stupidly handsome man. She swatted the thought away. Dixie took another deep breath, trying to shake off the stress that her therapist said activated her PTSD. If one believed she had PTSD, which for sure Dixie didn’t. Nope, she wasn’t going there. Not a chance. No way. She’d tried, she really had, but Dixie couldn’t help thinking that all that psychological self-help crap was just mumbo jumbo. What she needed was some good old-fashioned revenge.

I’ve had stories in my head since I was a child.  All sorts of stories of fantasy, romance, mystery and anything else that captured my interest.  I’m a voracious reader, and have spent many hours in my life devouring books, therefore it’s only fitting I should write a few myself!
I’ve spent most of my life as a performing musician and band instrument repair technician, but that doesn’t mean I’m pigeon-holed into one mold.  I’ve been a university professor, belly dancer, craftsperson, soap maker, singer, rock band artist, jewelry maker, lifeguard, swim coach, and whatever else I feel like exploring.  As one of my students said to me once, “Life’s too short to ignore the opportunities.”   I have no intention of ever stopping so welcome to my story world.  I hope you enjoy it!

Another Christmas From Hell
R.L. Mathewson
(Neighbor from Hell, #13)
Publication date: November 4th 2022
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Contemporary, Romance

The last thing that he wanted was to fall in love with his brother’s best friend.

From New York Time’s bestselling author R.L. Mathewson comes the next installment in the disturbingly funny romantic comedy series, Neighbor from Hell.

It was time to move on.

Granted, Cayley would have preferred to wait until after Christmas, but with her best friend somehow managing to get her fired and evicted in the same day, she had no choice but to move into the apartment across from the man that really didn’t seem happy to see her.

That was fine.

More than fine because if she could handle her best friend making her life a living hell and an ex-fiancé that was determined to get her back, then she could handle the man that was willing to do whatever it took to let the past destroy them both.

He couldn’t believe this was happening again.

For years, Bryce had been going out of his way to avoid Cayley, hoping that she would finally move on, but now that she was back, he realized that he no longer had a choice.

He was going to have to break her heart.

At least that was the plan until the little brat turned the tables on him, making him wonder how much longer he was going to be able to lie to himself even as one thing became painfully clear…

This was going to be the worst Christmas ever.

Excerpt:

“You ran the stop sign back there,” the officer said. He narrowed his eyes and studied my face. “Are you okay?”

“Okay?” I asked, then became aware of my wet face. I quickly wiped away the tears. “Yeah, I’m fine.”

The officer leaned over to look into my back seat before meeting my gaze. “Did you get into an argument with someone?”

“Nah, I dumped his dumb ass a few months ago.”

I didn’t see a flicker of reaction in his golden gaze, but his mouth curved into a wry smile. “Ouch,” he said. “Pretty sure more than a few of my girlfriends have said the same about me.”

I clasped my imaginary pearls. “Say it ain’t so.”

The officer chuckled and crossed his heart. “What upset you so much that you ran the stop sign?”

“Oh, I just drove by my aunt’s old place and was sad to see the new owners don’t love it as much as she did. It’s no excuse, and I’m sorry.”

Officer Hottie nodded and said, “I’ll need to see your license, registration, and proof of insurance.”

“You don’t want to frisk me for weapons?” One of these days, my mouth would get me into a lot of trouble.

The cop blinked a few times, and then a slow smile spread across his face until twin dimples peeked out from his cheeks. “Pretty sure you’ve shown me your weapons already.”

I knew he was talking about my sharp tongue and quick wit, but I couldn’t let him off the hook. “Oh, darling,” I cooed, “there’d be no doubt if I had.”

A series of beeps emitted from the radio hooked to his vest, followed by a tinny voice calling out codes and unit numbers. The sexy officer stood up straight and turned toward his patrol car. I glanced up in the rearview mirror and saw his partner, a super sexy Hispanic man, signaling for my new fantasy boyfriend to hurry up.

“You’re in luck,” the tawny cop said, startling me.

I clutched my nonexistent pearls again and said, “You sure move quickly and quietly for such a big guy,” I said.

“Like a lion,” he replied with a wink. “You won’t see me coming until I’m on you.”

“Promises, promises.”

Another flash of those dimples. “I have to answer another call, so I’m letting you off with a verbal warning.”

“Oh, good,” I purred. “Oral is my favorite.”

He shook his head and straightened to his full height, putting me at eye level with his big dick again. “Drive safely,” he called out as he retreated to his cruiser.

I shamefully stared at his ass in the side mirror and wiggled my fingers at them as they drove by with their lights flashing and sirens blaring a few seconds later. I released a sigh, relegated the handsome man to my fantasies, and drove to the store to grab a few staples before heading to my new apartment.

Description

The fates say all three of them belong together, like broken pieces of carnival glass just itching for a bit of glue, and the fates are never wrong, are they? Graham doesn’t think so, but convincing Zane and Cormac of that might take words never covered in his anatomy books.

One season: that’s the longest Zane stays anywhere. When the snow thaws and the pass is clear, he and his band will limp out of town in their battered RV, leaving Graham and his bruised heart behind, unless he can find a way to convince Zane to take a chance on something no one has ever taken the time to explain to him.

Bond marks might be a desire for some wolves, but for Zane, they mean the end of the only family he’s ever known. On stage, he’s not the pup some angry wolf tossed out an open window, he’s Z—wild, charismatic, nymphomaniac lead singer of Howling Rain. His aftershow activities are what put the bond marks on his wrists in the first place, much to the dismay of his bandmates who fear that those other kinds of mates will be the end of the success they’ve found together.

It’s up to Graham to teach them all that compromise and understanding are a big part of the mating process, and that their found families can be expanded to fit a couple more wolves. After all, the attraction is there, and in those soft, cuddly moments where Z fades and Zane emerges, all their little wolf wants is cuddles, warm blankets, and lots of love.

Come check out the music, they said. You’ll love the band. Z always puts on the best shows.

What no one had thought to inform him was that the show was interactive, and that Zane—or at least, Graham was certain the white wolf who’d pulled him up on the stage to dance was Zane—was the definition of sinful. The wolf had gone from belting out lyrics to gyrating with the mic stand, their waist-length white hair damp with sweat, those silver-blue eyes seeming to glow every time the strobe lights flashed silver. When the mic stand got boring, Zane growled into the mic, prompting the crowd to howl back. The energy in the room was electric, crackling like a live wire, revved up even more when the singer leapt, twisting to land in the crowd, where the wolves then surfed them around the room, which was how they’d come to land in front of Graham in the first place.

Androgynous, with high cheekbones, their features soft, like a shimmering sprite, ethereal and enchanting as all get-out, this close he could see the dusting of glitter on their cheekbones, the kohl around their eyes, and the sparkle of purple lip gloss that was smeared from where they’d made out with one of their bandmates earlier in the show. Zane smirked, flicked their tongue out, rolled their shoulders, and wiggled their hips, growling when Graham said to hell with teasing, yanked the singer into his arms, and started to grind against them, making sure they felt the strength in Graham’s embrace. Grinning, Zane wrapped their arms around Graham’s neck, straddled his thigh, and howled, hips rocking like a fuckin’ jackrabbit in heat.

Someone grabbed Zane’s hair, tugging their head back until they were looking at the ceiling. The bold stranger’s midnight eyes held a hint of challenge as he smirked at Graham before howling, the crowd and Zane responding with howls while the guitars in the background raced on. On any other night, Graham would have let go of the singer, conceding to the other wolf so this pack wouldn’t find out their new doctor had a temper and a jealous streak that had gotten him in trouble in the past. Tonight, though, with the way Zane fit in his arms and the wild crackle of energy surrounding them, there was no way he was letting go.

Grabbing midnight-eyes’ wrist, he found the pressure point, squeezing until the other wolf grimaced and released his hold on Zane’s hair. Snarling, Graham glared at him until he threw his hands up and backed away, leaving Graham with the lithe figure dancing in his arms. The look Zane was giving him—wicked, wild, and full of seduction—had Graham’s jeans feeling tight and his heart hammering like he’d just finished a three-mile sprint. Behind them the song wound down, but rather than return to the stage, Zane turned enough to shake their hand across their throat several times, telling the band to cut.

Any other place he’d ever been would have erupted into boos and protests, but here there were good-natured chuckles, lewd comments, and a reminder to come back in three days for another show.

“My place or yours?” Zane hissed, leaning in and licking the shell of Graham’s ear.

“Whichever is closer,” Graham growled.

“In that case, there’s an RV out back. Band knows better than to load out until it stops rockin’.”

“Does it ever?”

Chuckling, Zane grabbed him by the hand and practically dragged him through the packed bar, downing a drink someone shoved at them and catching a beer pitched in their direction on the way out the door. The ease with which they’d done it, automatically flinging their hand up without ever looking in the direction it was thrown from, told Graham the action was commonplace.

The white-haired wolf had that beer open and sliding down their throat before they got out the back door, where a large, dented gray-and-black RV sat parked beneath a bright streetlight.

“What happened? Play too rough?”

“Is that even a thing?” Zane replied, their speaking voice as musical as their singing one. “I mean, how can one play too rough?”

“Well, from a physician’s standpoint, I’d have to say that if those dents were made by your body, then whoever was helping you put them there might have been just a smidge rough.”

“Really,” Zane asked, opening the door and leading Graham onto the bus, passing a trash receptacle where they deposited the now-empty bottle. “And if that’s what I asked for?”

“Was it?”

Snickering, Zane peeled their half-shredded T-shirt off and tossed it aside, leading Graham through to the back of the RV. “Nope, but now that you put it in my head, I’m gonna have to try it sometime.”

Shaking his head, Graham barely resisted the urge to tell them they’d be seeing Graham again if they did, but the sight of moonlight gleaming off the piercings in Zane’s nipples and belly button rendered him mute. It was rare to see a pierced-up shifter because the holes tended to close before a piercing could be switched out. That left most shifters with only two options if they truly wanted to have them—never remove anything but the end pieces, or have the piercing redone each and every time they wanted to change them, an act Graham suspected would get painful after a while.

“See something you like?” Zane asked as they kicked off their boots.

“All that metal you’ve got stuck in your skin.”

“Those are just the teasers, wait until you see the whole show.”

Dropping his T-shirt on a chair, Graham waved his hand in Zane’s direction. “We’ll you’ve got my undivided attention; have at it.”

Winking, Zane stripped out of the black jeans they’d been prancing about the stage in, a dozen buckles up each leg with zips on the front and hips that made it easy for them to shimmy out. Of course, being zipped the way they were also allowed for a skintight fit, and speaking of fit, holy shit, was that lithe form Zane uncovered ripped with just a hint of curves!

The jeans hit the floor, revealing a Prince Albert piercing in an extremely small, hard cock, but what truly blew Graham away was when Zane turned to shove laundry off a bed, only to display a corset piercing up their back, threaded through with purple and silver ribbon.

“Holy fuck me,” Graham muttered, stalking across the small space to run his fingers over them and give a gentle tug to one of the laces.

“Hmm, yeah,” Zane groaned. “Nice, aren’t they? I wanna get both forearms done and the backs of my thighs, though I’ve seen a few folks with just their calves done and that looks amazing. Maybe I’ll do a diagonal slash across the front of both thighs and have the calves done too. You have to admit the effect would be stunning.”

“Is it pain you like, or the look of them?” Graham asked, still running his fingers over those lines of rings, “And if it’s the look, why cover them up on stage?”

“They aren’t always covered. On the nights I perform in miniskirts and crop tops the audience has plenty to see.”

“And the pain part?”

“Love it.”

She loves hiking, fishing, swimming, martial arts, camping out, photography, cooking, and dabbling with several artistic mediums. In addition, she loves to travel and visit museums, historic, and haunted places.

Hard times, troubled times, the lives of her characters are never easy, but then what life is? The story is in the struggle, the journey, the triumphs and the falls. She writes about artists, musicians, loners, drifters, dreamers, hippies, bikers, truckers, hunters and all the other folks that she’s met and fallen in love with over the years. Sometimes she writes urban romance and sometimes its aliens crash landing near a roadside bar. When she isn’t writing, or wandering somewhere outdoors, she can often be found curled up with a good book and a kitty on her lap.

Narrated by Amanda Meuwissen

Daren Montgomery is a fisherman in his small hometown off Nova Scotia. His heart is as empty as the waters in winter—until he meets Lilo, a beautiful creature of the ocean depths that Daren never believed could be real. Their courtship may be a fairy tale, but the gentle curl of a tentacle or wet kiss in magically warm waters has him dreaming of summer and a storybook ending.

Excerpt:

Falling backwards onto the deck, Daren nearly lost the net completely. Seeing a head floating in the water was not a calming experience.

He slowly stood, wondering what poor soul had drowned out here, only to realize the eyes looking back at him were blinking.

“Are you okay?” Daren called. “Are you lost? You’re not swimming in that water?”

The head bobbed higher, revealing the tops of bare shoulders. The man was beautiful, even if Daren had to wonder about his sanity. His skin had a bluish-purple tint to it, so he had to be freezing, but he was still gorgeous, with eyes so dark, they looked black, and short black hair plastered to his forehead and around what appeared to be slightly pointed ears.

He almost looked like a pixie, or an elf, or…

Or…

“Hello?” Daren tried again before he could allow that thought to enter his mind. Maybe he’d been out here too long on his own and was starting to see things, because he couldn’t possibly be looking at a… mermaid?

Well, merman.

The beautiful head dove back under the water, and the next thought Daren had was that whether this was man or sea creature, he might be about to capsize Daren’s boat. Only, before Daren could think to react or even move, with his hands still clutching his net that was only half pulled up onto the deck, the rest of the net and all the fish in it pushed up as if by itself and spilled at his feet.

Daren blinked.

The next moment, the man’s beautiful face peered at him from over the side of the boat.

“Uh… thanks.” Daren dropped his hold on the net, unsure what to do. “You’re not… gonna drag me to a watery grave now, are you?”

The man’s—merman’s—eyes really were black with hardly any whites and no discernable pupils. His skin was bluish-purple, his ears were pointed, and when he tilted his head and smiled at Daren, his mouth was full of dangerously sharp teeth.

He disappeared beneath the water again.

Daren was being toyed with, and soon, the merman would capsize his boat. But, as he waited, once again, that didn’t happen.

A fish popped up out of the water and landed right in the boat.

Then another joined the first. And another. And another. In minutes, Daren had two-dozen more fish than what had been in his net, and he had to cry out to the water, “Stop! My boat can’t take much more! This is plenty!”

He couldn’t be sure if the merman understood him, but the head popped up again with another curious tilt.

“This is plenty,” Daren said again, gesturing at the fish, and then held out both hands in a stopping gesture.

The merman smiled like before, and though his teeth should have made it a frightening image, he was truly stunning. He didn’t want to capsize Daren. He was trying to help. Maybe he was why Daren had caught so many fish yesterday.

“Thank you,” Daren said. He had more than enough to return to shore for the day. “I’m, um…” He placed a hand on his chest. “Daren.” Then he gestured at his guest.

The merman’s brow scrunched.

Why would Daren even think a sea creature could speak, let alone understand English? He tried again anyway, patting his chest. “Daren.” Then he gestured at the merman again.

Hands came up to rest on the side of the boat, and Daren could see that the fingers were webbed. The merman used the leverage to lift out of the water enough to press one of his hands to his chest where Daren could see it.

“Liloki,” he said, and it was a strange voice, both low and higher pitched at once that Daren imagined could be understood even underwater.

“Liloki,” Daren repeated. “Kinda makes me think of Lilo and Stitch.” He chuckled.

“Lilo.” Liloki nodded, patting his chest again, as if to say Daren could call him that, or it was a nickname he was already used to.

“Lilo,” Daren said.

“Daren,” Lilo said back to him.

“Thank you for the fish,” Daren said again, pointing at the catch.

Lilo smiled wider, so Daren thought he understood.

Better Than Series, Book 6

The lawyer, the diva, and a new adventure…

Matt-

Life is good. A few years ago, I met someone special, came out as bi, fell head over heels, and married the love of my life. A man. But not just any man.

Aaron is a confident, unapologetically fabulous diva who isn’t afraid to take chances. I love that about him. New state, new career path…no problem.

Except things don’t always go according to plan. That’s okay. It might be the perfect time to get back to basics and check off a few items on our original list…like buy a house and start a family. Whoa! House first.

However, house hunting isn’t glamorous at all, and with my partnership at the law firm in the balance, it’s kind of stressful. Everything we’ve dreamed of is within reach—if we can just find a place that feels like home, we’ll be better than good.

Better Than Home is a sweet and sexy novella featuring Matt and Aaron from my International Bestselling book, Better Than Good. The lawyer, the diva, and the happy ever after of a lifetime. For readers who know the real love story happens after the first “I love you.”

Excerpt:

“To new adventures.”

“To us.”

We went quiet for a while, lost in our thoughts as we people-watched and shared occasional commentary on random things like the playful Lab trotting after his person with a Frisbee in his mouth or the college-age film students setting up their cameras under the trees behind us.

“We can try again, you know,” I said softly.

“Yes.” Aaron rested his head on my shoulder, then glanced up. “But I think you’re right. It’s time to move on and make new plans. Let’s start house hunting tomorrow.”

Screech. Halt. What?

“Tomorrow?”

“Or soon. Like next week. There’s a lot to consider. We have to narrow down neighborhoods we like and look into school districts, proximity to the city and our friends and family. I love Jay and Peter’s hood. And I’d love to be close to the twins, but we may want to be closer to my folks. Mom will want to babysit and—”

“We don’t have kids.”

“But we will! Come along, love of my life. We have so much to discuss!”

He jumped from the bench and tugged at my hand, slipping his arm through mine as he pulled me toward the sidewalk, continuing excitedly about houses and dogs and babies and future things that had seemed impossibly far away an hour ago.

Yes, it was overwhelming as hell. But forward-thinking optimism was the best way to move past disappointment. And we were definitely going to do everything on that list.

Eventually.
