The Lion, the Dragon, and Their Unicorn Omega by Lorelei M. Hart
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
The Lion, The Dragon, and Their Unicorn Omega (The Unicorn Omegas #2) was graciously provided to me by the author for an honest review.
“The Mighty, The Majestic, and The Magnificent”
As I sit here thinking about all of the different types of stories that I love, the most recent one is at the top of said list. I absolutely loved my most recent read, one that I had the absolute pleasure in reading. My most recent read is, “The Lion, The Dragon, and Their Unicorn Omega.” What a welcomed read it was!
Allowing the entirety of this fourth book having been read by this author(s) to settle, I can honestly say that I continue to enjoy reading about the shifter world. The different kinds of harrowing and just as beautiful parts of them, while not perfect, always have me coming back for more. In this book, I found myself interchangeably shifting from moments of happiness, of absolute giddiness, to moments of tearful beauty, all the while not quite understanding how there could also be moments when I had to scratch my head wondering what I had just read. Even with this plethora of different variations, I still, as a whole, loved it.
My most recent read, “The Lion, The Dragon, and Their Unicorn Omega” by Lorelei M. Hart and Ophelia Heart was a story that had me hooked right from the start. I mean come on! Look at the title! A lion! A dragon! A unicorn! Yes, please! That alone had me dropping everything to be able to jump right back into a world of shifters, and, jump I did. And, boy, am I sure glad that I did.
“The Lion, The Dragon, and Their Unicorn Omega” is a story set within the same world as the previous book I had read from this author(s), entitled, “The Dragons and Their Unicorn Omega”, which is part of the same series, “The Unicorn Omegas”. While both books are consecutively from the same series, it’s not necessary to read the first prior to reading this one, however, it is recommended. Gah! I have loved reading about this world, so, there are currently just as many reasons why I loved reading this particular book as well. I loved the characters and their animal incorporation, absolutely loved the realistic and heart-breaking storyline, and, the plot was one that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire read. But…oh boy, I needed more. There was so much potentiality weaving wonderfully throughout the developing plot, along with its gripping sub-plot, that along with the mysterious background floating around, as well, from its characters, I had become greedy early on for such high-expectations. There were so many nail-biting moments when I was sure something absolutely epic would occur..but…*sigh*..more is still the operative word here.
The theme from the book, “The Lion, The Dragon, and Their Unicorn Omega” is stunning. It follows the same path as the previous book, and, my heart continues to wrap itself around those characters who are involved in that kind of scenario. This particular story follows Samuel, Sasha, and Rob as they individually attempt to take that next stutter-step in their lives, but, despite its unknown origin, each man follows Fate, and, once it is determined how to take this step, it’s like the skies had opened up and this beautifully flowing rainbow had been formed. Almost immediately, like a bolt of lightening in semi-disguise, each of these men had been presented with the answer to that unanswered question that had been plaguing them for a long time. Hello Fate, it’s so nice to see you. I absolutely loved these men. I found them to be such strong, caring, intelligent, and, humorous individuals. I loved how each of them was like that missing puzzle piece, that had unknowingly been sought, that neither of them were able to answer individually. That soothing answer which served as a remedy for their future, that each had so desperately needed. Individually they were all mighty individuals, but, as a triad? They were insurmountable. As the mighty lion, the majestic dragon, and the indescribable unicorn had set out for what was morally right, I looked forward to seeing how the plot was going to develop as each challenge was faced and valiantly dealt with. I loved this storyline and looked forward to the smoothness of its pace within the plot. As, who could break this combined kind-of-group? Not many, if anyone at all. Insurmountable, remember?
As mentioned briefly, the storyline is a great one, with its incredible characters, and, a developing plot with numerous opportunities for immensely powerful and continued heart-breaking moments. But, alas, it never fully developed with an arc and a completed and a satisfying ending. And, with that, I am so sad. I was desperate for the story to continue until things had evened out. I felt the pace was off, with emphasis on..various fun moments..to an extent, rather than the actual development of the characters, their necessary emotional moments, and the plot. I was hoping for more character background and development both individually as well as within the group. I felt there were many times when the need for another serious round of the editing process stood in the way of complete comprehension of various moments. Despite these confusing times, some were just as incomplete as well as inconsistent as well. Additionally, unless the plot will continue with the next book, unlike the previous one, there were many questions which were not only left unanswered but, had been abruptly left open in the end.
That all being said, I still absolutely loved the story, with characters, main and secondary, who I seriously needed to give lots of major squeeze-hugs. Despite the lack of a smooth and completed plot, and, the unevenness of the pace a bit, the storyline as a whole was fabulous. Any time I come across a story that has me squeeling as a result of various characters, and, not wanting the story to end, it’s a truly great read. So, I can say that I definitely look forward to the next story of this series, with a brightly-lit eagerness that is enough to light any darkened sky….:)
