Secret Baby Omega (Road to Forgiveness #1) (ARC) was graciously provided to me by the author for an honest review.
“Through Love and Forgiveness Comes..Joy”
Sometimes I come across a book that makes me feel all warm and squishy inside, and, despite the other emotions involved with the reading of said book, the warmed squishiness wins out in the end. My most recent read was exactly that. I just had the absolute pleasure in reading a new release called, Secret Baby Omega, by Alice Shaw. I loved this story! I always know I’ve come across a good book when I find myself taking my time reading it because I just didn’t want it to end. This was a real good read, as a whole, but, that doesn’t mean that there weren’t a few bumps along this journey. I just had to learn how to maneuver around those bumps. And, I’m sure glad that I did.
Secret Baby Omega is one of those stories that had me fluctuating between heart-breaking blubbery and weeping heart-felt emotions. And, a whole lot in between. I loved the storyline. It was a gripping and beautiful one. It was one that contained steely determination, strength, love, familial anguish, unwavering love, forgiveness, and..joy. It had nail-biting moments interspersed with sweet and awe-inspiring moments as well. My stomach was all in knots, through many of the harrowing moments, as I equally cheered through my tears, as I then safely held my breath for a hopeful outcome each time. The meat of the story was real good. I loved the characters. I found myself deeply invested in their lives, and, routed for them whole-heartedly. But..I needed more.
As briefly mentioned, I loved the characters. The mc’s, Schwartz and Jason, aka Jax, were two men who were very similar yet so very different at the same time. The amount of strength and determination was over-flowing, throughout the story, from these two men. Their chemistry was developmentally sound and sizzling, and, I thoroughly enjoyed reading about their journey of self-discovery and continued growth. Their ability to be the pillar of strength for family members was incredible. I loved their story. That being said, I also felt that there could have been more depth to their background, as well as overall development, for these two characters within the actual story. It was a bit confusing as to their actual identity, as their general description went back and forth, making it difficult to connect with the cover of the book, in general and as a whole.
There were quite a few secondary characters, who contributed to the riveting plot, however, I had also wished for more depth to them as well, thereby making the overall flow of the plot a bit smoother and a more completed one. I loved the secondary characters, despite being a bit confused as to their background and development, however, each of them have such incredible potential for future books, their own stories seeming to already jump right off of the pages, as they were, as a whole, already great characters. One such story being an absolutely heart-breaking one at that. As I read, already engrossed in the needy desperation of said character, my finger all ready set for that future one-click, as the hopes for his own story grew exponentially throughout the story..
Overall, despite the need for another run through with the editing process, as there were various glitches, in general sentence structure, flow, as well as general word usage, it was a very good story. Regardless of some of the confusing bumps which existed, and, even though the ending was a unique one, I really enjoyed reading Secret Baby Omega, and, plan on reading it again sometime in the near future. 🙂
