Book blurb:
Everything Dominic Price has worked hard to uphold is about to come crashing down on everything he holds dear.
So much for the quiet life. Just as assistant US attorney and brewery owner Dominic Price is settling into a comfy new chapter with his partner, FBI agent Cameron Byrne, the sudden death of Nic’s father puts their happily-ever-after in jeopardy. Nic immediately suspects foul play, his prime suspect a notorious gangster his father was indebted to—only now the loan shark is out for blood.
Cam has been longing for Nic to finally let him in on this very personal case. But when Nic’s belief that he’s the sole Price heir is upended, the line between personal and professional starts to blur, leaving Cam unsure of where he stands.
Nic is depending on Cam’s kidnap and rescue expertise to save his recently discovered family member before it’s too late. But with a dangerous threat closing in, the ghosts from Nic’s past cast long shadows. Any relationship could crack under the pressure, but for Nic, finding his family might mean losing the love of his life.
Nic and Cam have to fight for their lives and their happily ever after in this exciting, action-packed conclusion to the Trouble Brewing series.
Excerpt #1:
“I’ve got you,” Cam murmured, and dropped a kiss on his temple.
“Just when I thought things were turning our way…”
Nic dropped his head on Cam’s shoulder, and Cam was sure Nic could feel his heart about to beat out of his chest, equal parts worry at the dejection in Nic’s voice, so foreign for him, and adoration, because he let Cam see that, not hiding anything from him, for better or worse.
“One setback.” Cam carded his fingers through Nic’s hair, more of the sexy gray showing every day.
“Three, if we’re counting.”
“Stop counting,” he playfully chided with a swat to Nic’s ass. “Unless it’s your breaths, in which case, take a few extra to settle.”
Nic took the recommended inhales, plus a few more, then rested their foreheads together. “Thank you.”
Cam waited for his eyes to open. “I love you.”
“I love you too.” Finally, a smile, if an exhausted one, right before Nic brushed his lips over Cam’s. It was a slow, gentle kiss, probably the only thing that would be in this already rough-and-tumble day, and Cam let Nic take all that he needed. Cam needed it too—this reminder of their connection, the threads of the rope being reinforced. Cam would hold Nic to his word. Nic hadn’t let the rope go for him when Cam had needed him to hold tight, and Cam wouldn’t let go now either, nor would he let Nic, or anyone else for that matter, cut through it with a Ka-Bar.
Excerpt #2:
“Welcome home, to what’s left of it.”
“You’re here. That’s all that matters.” Cam teased the corner of Nic’s mouth, just short of a kiss, before he sat back and took another swig of his beer. He talked over Nic’s throaty rumble of frustration. “It feels like we’ve been gone forever.”
“Bird thinks so. Left us a surprise in your shoes.”
“In mine?”
“’Cause he likes me better.”
Traitor indeed, the both of them. “You stole my cat.”
“I showed your cat a better way.”
“No, you bribed him with extra food and treats. But I don’t want to argue about that right now. Got something else in mind.” He finished his beer, set the empty on the table next to Eddie’s, and stood. Nic moved to stand too, but Cam kept him seated, a hand on his shoulder and a leg thrown over his lap. “This okay?”
Nic rolled his hips, bringing their groins in grinding contact. “More than,” he said, voice rumbly for a different reason now. “This part of my body doesn’t hurt, at least not in the bad way. But I do wonder about the chair. This is how we broke the other one, if you recall.”
Cam waggled his brows. “How about we try to break all the chairs?”
“How about I get a kiss first?” Nic lifted his legs and bumped Cam forward.
Hands splayed on Nic’s chest, Cam kept himself from careening into him, but Nic, despite his injuries, seemed to want it rough, seemed to crave it as much as Cam did. Driving one hand down his back and the other into his hair, Nic dragged him close, smashing their lips together. Drinking with each long, slow swipe of his tongue, he drew a moan from deep within Cam, from that spot where his love for this man grew more and more each day.
“Still my favorite taste,” Nic mumbled, as they broke apart for air.
“You know…” Cam trailed a path of kisses along his jaw, softly pecking over the bruises. “Bird wasn’t the only one you taught a better way.”
“Even if I argue you to an early grave?”
Cam righted his head and gently took Nic’s face in his hands. “No talking of graves. And no arguing tonight.” He closed the distance again, wanting more closeness, more tastes of their future. “Just kissing. And celebrating this victory.”
“And fucking,” Nic growled. “Definitely part of this celebration.”
Cam grinned. “No objection, Counselor.”
Review:
Noble Hops by Layla Reyne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Noble Hops (Trouble Brewing, #3) (ARC) was graciously provided to me by A Novel Take PR for an honest review. I have voluntarily read this book and have provided my honest opinion.
A Highly-Recommended Read
A sensational, heart-pounding, emotional, absolutely incredible continuation of the Trouble Brewing Series with Nic Price and Cam Byrne as they continue to rid the world of the wrong doings of many deviant individuals.
I don’t usually read stories of the suspenseful or mysterious nature..but, WOAH…stories involving FBI Agents, Assistant DA’s, Navy Seals, and men with gorgeous tattoos and dreamy eyes..have my head turning, and in this case, right towards an upcoming super suspenseful, highly addicting, beyond surprising, beautifully sexy, excellently-written story.
I can actually say I loved Noble Hops, by Layla Reyne even not having read the previous two books of the series, as the author successfully pulled me right into this particular story, right smack dab into the lives of the main characters, Nic and Cam, as there were so many amazing, exciting, jaw-dropping, emotional moments that had this reader soaking them in as I was drawn to each exponentially.
With a conclusion to this spectacularly addicting, highly-recommended series that despite the smattering of typos, it could be one that rivals even the best. It’s immensely detailed and smoothly written plot, it’s varied characters, plentiful mysterious, nail-biting moments, perfectly infiltrated with sexy and humorous moments, will be one that has me needing to read from the very beginning for more of this world. Noble Hops was definitely a great read that I could-not-put-down it was that good..:)
