My personal assistant—a.k.a. half my brain—has abandoned me to have a
baby. Alright, alright, I’m not a total jerk, but the temporary virtual
assistant Carla left in her place is driving me crazy.
I’ve repeatedly refused to fill out Amy Walker’s way-too-friendly
questionnaire. But somehow, she ninjas me into giving up details about my
private life—all while suffering her oh-so-subtle jabs at my likes, dislikes,
even my system for running my business.
I don’t care what she heard, I am not a problem child.
I just know what’s tried and true.
At first, her feel-good P.S. quotes sounded more like B.S. Yet our
emails and texts gradually take on a new dimension, and I find myself thinking
of her as something I haven’t cultivated in a long time. A friend.
Maybe she’s right. It’s time I get a life. Starting with stepping out
from behind the screen and putting my feelings on the line. I’ll never know
unless I try.
Note: Contains a grumpy, workaholic tech CEO with a guarded heart, and a virtual assistant whose skills border on diabolical. Also, two cats named Ramen and Sushi.

Mrs. Jones,
Thank you for your inquiry about our services and for filling out our initial application. It’ll be a pleasure to help you find just the right virtual assistant for your need. Please, let me make sure we got some details right. On the application, you describe your current boss as impatient, aggressive, micromanaging, and somehow a social piranha.
Did I misread it? Is there a possibility that this was a typo? If you could please correct or expand on your description, I’ll appreciate it. Mrs. Darlington explained our mission correctly. We always find the most fitting assistant for your company. Even for social piranhas. We have the right person for that. Our personnel is highly trained and holds at least a bachelor degree.
Best Regards,
E. Lancaster, CEO

Review:

Maybe Later

Maybe Later (ARC) was graciously provided to me by Give Me Books PR for an honest review. I have honestly reviewed this book and have provided my honest opinion.

“A mysterious, addicting, and, emotional read”

An extremely mysterious, addicting, heart-breaking, and gripping story, one that is filled-to-the-gill to the point of practically over-flowing, with so many surprising twists and plentiful head-spinning turns about two lost and damaged individuals as they embark on a new adventure of change, had this reader voraciously reading as questions and hopeful thoughts flew by quickly in rapid succession.

This lengthy, almost philosophical-in-nature, profoundly deep type-of-read had my head spinning throughout much of this story.  Had-my-head-spinning.  A storyline that had me reading long into the night soaking in the kaleidoscope of varied moments surrounding flawed and hopeful individuals with friends and family members located at different points of their adventure.

Maybe Later, by Claudia Y. Burgoa, is a multi-tiered romance, with beautiful, perfectly timed heart-warming and gushy moments, will have you sitting on the edge-of-your-seat with mouth agape throughout the story.  Its main characters are vastly different yet very similar, with a developing chemistry that progresses like a slowly-dripping seemingly faulty faucet. Both characters are hard-working, and, dedicated individuals with head-strong, bold and caring moments as each scarred beautifully damaged soul, one more stronger than the other, who through a surprising series of events begin this metamorphosis through unique, realistic and somewhat humorous means of communication.

I enjoyed the two main characters, Jackson and Emmeline, for many different reasons, and, felt their journey to be such a gripping and emotional one, as I felt myself routing for them as they found themselves down a progressive road destined for their own form of magical happiness.

As this story had so many characters, I felt myself gravitating towards Jackson as he discovered new and amazing sources of love, strength and growth.  On a different level, I was drawn to Emmeline as she began to make her way towards healing through a continued sense of love, as it was clear that her road was still developing.  I had great hope for both individuals as they gravitated towards the other as they found moments of great happiness, profound sadness as well as a great need for continued support.

Maybe Later, with its extremely clever underlying meaning, was a story unlike any other I have read.  It is in this reader’s opinion, that, with its deeply-written journey, despite many head-scratching, and, confusing moments, its journey was an amazing one.  How many stories have I read with a need to through my kindle across the room, while simultaneously needing to hug it, all the while giggling through moments of surprising tears?  Not many.

With a differentiated plot and characters, this storyline was a uniquely great one.  One that had this reader desperate for more of not only the actual plot, but also of the characters as well.  The present direction is so heavy and addicting that I almost ran towards the secondary characters, as there was such a need for more variation, in addition to their current presence had this reader was so eager for more.

Maybe Later, by Claudia Y. Burgoa, was a different type of addicting, and, emotional read.  One that had me insatiably reading as the characters made their way towards their own form of magical happiness.  Even though there was a great need for more, in general, along with a smoother pace, its ending had this reader glowing with a continued sense of inner happiness for Jackson and Emmeline as they reached their collective happiness.
