His Spanish Alpha by W. Mae Smith
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
His Spanish Alpha was graciously provided to me by the author for an honest review.
“El Amor de una Familia….”
A beautiful setting, beautiful characters, and, a beautiful ending. These are the highlights of my most recent read. Feeling as if I took a quick trip to the gorgeously dense and inviting tropics of Costa Rica, I feel myself in a wondered state of happiness. Having just completed a new book, I sit here and can easily recall the details of the realistically descriptive surroundings of not only the incredible multi-layered jungle of this amazing area, but, I also think back to the emotional unfolding of a surprisingly new and settling life for two deserving young men.
Ever have the pleasure of reading a book that had you in multiple places of enjoyment, and yet, you couldn’t quite put your hands on what exactly it was that brought you to such joy? Well, that’s my present state. While I had the absolute pleasure in reading, “His Spanish Alpha” by W. Mae Smith and Eliza Hunter, and, as a whole, I thoroughly enjoyed it, at the same time, there were times when I found myself in a confused state of wonderment. But, alas, I liked it, despite the bumpiness on the road traveled. As I had made my way down this particular road, similar to driving down a man-made road of the tropics, once I had made my way through the vast and uniquely presented layers of the story, I finally made it to my destination. Sweet and utter happiness.
Before I even began reading, “His Spanish Alpha”, I was eager to discover what was waiting for me, and after reading the blurb, and, glancing at the cover, I had encountered an intriguing and interesting premise, one that had it’s extending hands seemingly extending outwards to grab a hold of mine, enticing me to delve into the depths of this book. Hoping for a smooth and steady pace through the jungles of this story, I jumped right in!
There were many parts of this story that I had liked. I found the setting to be extremely realistic and beautiful, as I found myself almost drenched in perspiration, close to loosing copious amounts of fluids, as I read. I loved the characters, main as well as secondary, few as there were, some more than others. While it took me a while to connect with one in particular, once I did, I found him to be kind, caring, attentive, and, a loving individual. I also loved the overall storyline, and, found it to be not only a heart-breaking one, but, also one in which consisted of raw and hopeful moments as well. While the plot was one that was challenging to follow, at times, ultimately, I found it to be one that was eventually a completed one, due to the existence of some open-ended questions left unanswered, which were clearly left open for ultimate closure sometime in the near future.
Despite its great need for a serious run through with the editing process again, as there were so many typos, incomplete sentences, and, word glitches, as my mind made the automatic changes, I saw the eventual beauty of the theme, the storyline. Love and family. Even though there were times when I could not understand some of the actions of a few of the characters, one in particular, who, however, had ultimately seemed to have redeemed himself greatly, and, regardless of hoping for more character background and development, as well as more of the storyline, and, even though I also felt the plot was open for a different kind of interpretation, as it wasn’t always entirely clear, I felt, as a whole, the plot was one of beauty. I loved how Liam and Santiago eventually saw themselves clear and found their destination, in more ways than one. Yep, one of my rare spoilers, right here. But, it’s pretty much a given, when one almost desperately searches, with a developing strength, for his love, his future, chances are…it’ll be love and rainbows for all in the end. And, I’m certainly happy to see that for both Liam and Santiago and their entire family as well..
Even though there were times I couldn’t quite make a connection with a few of the characters and the pace, and, a little bit of the plot, when I was able to see the actual loving, well-rounded moments for both Liam and Santiago, felt the efficacy of the storyline, the plot, and all of the characters, I felt the story was a good one. And, I’m sure glad that I read it..:)
