Gage (The Redemption Series #2)
Gage is happy, happier than he thought possible. He has Wolff Mannheim, the man he has always loved, even when he hated him, back by his side and in his bed. He is confident that their relationship can only grow stronger as they continue to rediscover each other.
When a letter appears after twelve years of silence from the family that disowned him and cast him out, he has Wolff to lean on. The contents of the letter have left Gage reeling but also have him reuniting with his estranged sister. When the shocks keep coming, it forces Gage back to his family home—a place he never thought he would return to. At least, this time, he has Wolff by his side as well as his sister.
As Gage faces the man who threw him carelessly away, he proves himself to be the better man, a stronger man, than the one forced away so many years earlier. With all his demons put to rest, can Gage live his life with his one true love?

Gage
“Thanks.” I reach up to take the glass of wine from Banner.
“I think it’s safe to say this has been an unexpected weekend.” Banner leans back on his sofa, bringing his feet up to rest on the large, cluttered, square wooden coffee table.
I let out a dry chuckle and take a sip of the ruby-red wine. “You could say that. I sure wasn’t expecting this.”
“But it’s good, right? Does he mind that you don’t bottom? He looks all toppy and everything.” He grins. Then his mouth drops open in surprise. “You let him? Fuck, Gage, this is huge.”
“It felt fucking huge. I’ll tell you that.” I can’t help the bubble of laughter bursting out.
“That’s not what I meant, and you know it. Why though? Did he insist?”
“Don’t be stupid, Banner. I’m not going to go into it. All I say is I wanted to. It felt right. It also felt amazing, but that’s all you’re getting from me. Now, let’s talk about you and that delicious man you found. He’s very like―” My sentence gets cut short.
“Don’t say it. He’s nothing like him.” Banner’s eyes narrow as he snaps at me.
“Fine. I won’t say it. He seems a good guy. Are you going to see him again, or is it another cute guy you unnecessarily push away?”
“Don’t start, Gage. And yes, we do plan to get together again. We’re going for dinner on Wednesday.”
“That’s good. I’m glad to here it. You deserve a good guy, Banner.”
“I know. I’m such a catch! Jasper is a really nice guy, and he’s hot as fuck in bed. I want to keep seeing him. There you go. That’s my weekend documented. Where are you two going now? Is work going to be a problem?”
“Work will be fine. We don’t work directly together. He doesn’t have to answer to me, and I’m caught up with a lot more of the company as a whole, now I’m a partner. We don’t have a non-frat policy. Can’t really, not with Alexander and Dorian being together.” I can’t keep the grin off my face. “I’m really fucking happy.” I laugh.
Our Chinese takeaway arrives, and we move on to more mundane conversations and trash TV binging until it’s time for me to get home.
“I’ll call you tomorrow.” I grab my coat and open the door. The cab driver has beeped once I’m giving him the opportunity to bump up the fare because he’s pissed off with me.
When I’m in the cab, I check my phone and see that Wolff has messaged me earlier. I’m not going to be guy who spends all night on his phone ignoring his company.
Wolff: I hate you. My bed smells of you.
I smile and tap off a reply.
Me: No, you don’t. You love me and have been wrapped around my pillow! 😉
Wolff: I’m not answering that.
He’s quick to reply, making me smile. He must have his phone close by.
Wolff: Are you still at Banner’s?
Me: No, I’m in a cab. I’m ready to get to my bed.
Me: Someone tired me out this afternoon.
Wolff: You didn’t complain. Call me when you get home.
Me: True, I don’t think I ever will. Okay, I’ll be back in ten.
Excerpt#2:
Gage
Why did I think I’ve just seen my sister? I haven’t heard a thing from her in over twelve years. I would’ve doubted I’d even recognise her. And yet that woman waiting at the crossing looked like my little sister, Claudia. Was it the way she was standing or how she tucked a wayward lock of hair behind her ear? The cruelty of my father stretched to denying me the chance to see or even speak to her again, giving me another reason to hate him. I look away and get back to messing with Wolff.
When we get to the wide glass double doors at the entrance of our offices, I look again, but I can’t see her anymore. There’s no reason why she wouldn’t be working around her. Every building is some sort of commerce building.
“Are you okay?” Wolff looks at me as I turn back to the door.
“Yes, sorry. I thought I saw someone I recognised, but it wasn’t.”
“Who?”
“Huh, no one. It’s not important.”
“Gage don’t do that. Don’t shut me out,” he quietly implores, making me stop and listen.
“I’m sorry, hon. You’re right. I thought I saw Claudia.” I try to keep my voice as matter-of-fact as I can. I don’t want to escalate my anxiety.
Wolff frowns as I see him try to put the name to the face and why it would bother me. Looking around the street again, he remembers. “Your sister Claudia?”
I nod and swallow hard like there’s a huge lump stuck in my throat and it’s about to suffocate me.
“When did you last see her?” The pain in my lover’s voice and eyes is overwhelming me. I think he sees it because he tugs me to the side, away from the flow of bustling people.
“Um, I think it was the day after the party. I know I didn’t see her the day I was kicked out. She was on holiday with a school friend’s family.
“Shit! Fuck, Gage.” He bites on his lip.
Review:
Gage by J.J. Harper
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Gage (Redemption #2) (ARC) was graciously provided to me by the author for an honest review. I have voluntarily read this book and have provided my honest opinion.
An Angst-Filled Hopeful Story..
A wonderfully sexy, humorously adorable, angst-filled, heart-breaking, incredibly hopeful, heart-warming, addicting read with a continued gripping storyline that I loved so much.. It’s underlying tone a heart-warming yet painful one of forgiveness as characters learn how to find peace and love for friends and family.
Gah..I loved reading more of Gage and Wolff’s story, as it continues to draw me in to their budding beautiful relationship once again.. I immediately and languidly felt the emotional release of their painful past, as their love for one another took center stage and enveloped not only this reader but also one another, as they began to forgive and let go, as their love had bloomed into something quite beautiful, as it overpowered any previous accidental transgressions.
With the positive additions of the secondary characters, who have slowly intrigued me for their own stories, and the added snippets of various great settings, the affect for the need for editing was somewhat manageable, despite it still be a strong necessity for this reader. With the existence of a few confusing parts, inconsistencies and typos, and the great need for more depth and development to not only the triggered part of the storyline, but also as a whole, these additions, as well as the added emotional twists and turns contributed to the pull of this plot, that all had me glued to my kindle even more than before as the emotional draw was prevalent.
Overall, I loved this story, it’s wonderfully distinct characters, and, it’s continued gripping and addicting plot as it contained deeply beautiful moments that had this reader melting from the very beginning until the very last page with an ever present and consistent eagerness for even more of this series and its characters..I loved it..:)

Gage, is book two in the Redemption Series and it follows immediately from Wolff, book one.
While it can be read as a standalone, it’s best enjoyed reading in order. Contains some very steamy man-on-man loving and is advised for 18+ only.

You will normally find her in the living room—typing away—with her dog, Maud. As a hopeless romantic, JJ dives into her stories, always falling in love with her men, making sure they get the happy ever after they deserves, even if they do have to work hard for it.
As a bona fide bookaholic, coffee-addicted, wine-drinking and swear-like-a-sailor type of girl, she has yet to work out how to act her age!! LOL. And she has no intentions of growing up or growing old gracefully.
JJ lives in a small, very quiet, village in Lincolnshire, UK, with her husband and dog, and spends all day dreaming up stories full of really hot men.
