It’s physically painful to avoid rolling my eyes as I read the increasing dramatics of his text messages. Every so often a book comes along that winds up being an absolutely incredible read which inadvertently leaves the reader….utterly speechless.  One containing a wonderfully addicting storyline with perfectly written characters, flawless world building, and an overall warmed blanket ambiance which can only be described as a consistent warm hug all rolled up into one.  Stories such as this set an incredibly high bar for others, causing readers to reach high levels of giddiness or run low on their supply of tissues.  Right as Raine, by Lucy Lennox, is this type of book.  As a result, it has left this reader….utterly speechless.       

Right as Raine was an incredible story.  With its addicting, heartwarming, humorous, heartbreaking and absolutely nail-biting moments, I gravitated towards this amazing storyline.  Emotions ran rampant as I read about the different yet somehow similar background of the two main characters.  Their need for one another couldn’t be more evident throughout this great story.  Regardless of the emotional twists and turns, I could not get enough of it.  I adored it to bits with its perfectly descriptive winter beauty, angsty sports related action, and undeniably dedicated friends and family albeit a few brazen ones.  I either wanted to squeeze-hug them or give them a thing or two.  #Justsayin      

It is beyond clear that I loved Right as Raine, by Lucy Lennox, and even though I was completely enamored with the characters, Tiller and Mikey, and their tremendous story, there were just a few snippets that kind of stuck out for this reader.  As I’m a true believer in complete on page development, I actually needed more of the initial stages of their authentically genuine friendship because I felt like I had to play catch-up as a result of such a time jump.  In addition, it can also be assumed that any remaining loose ends will be tied-up in future stories of this series.  That being said, however, Right as Raine is still such a fabulous story and I absolutely loved it….:)

Excerpt:

A door on the first floor slams, and I blink awake. Glancing over at my clock on my bedside table, I find it is six-thirty a.m., half an hour before my alarm was set to go off.  Groaning, I throw an arm over my face and try to grasp the warm fog of sleep that still clings to the corners of my mind.  As I drift off again, my door slams open, and a familiar voice calls out. “Colt!  You lazy giant!  Get up. Santa Claus is here.” Before I can respond, the covers are ripped off my bed, and the brat grabs my free hand, trying to pull me up.  I resist, mostly by just not moving.  Since I outweigh him by a good fifty pounds, I know he won’t be able to budge me from my bed without a lot more effort than he is currently exerting.  Without moving my arm off my face, I laugh at him. My arm is snatched away from my face as Eddie tries again to yank me upright.  A smirk forms on my lips as I purposely lie as still as possible. “Damn it, Colt.  You’re a brick house, not a horse!  Get up!”  He throws my arm down into my face as I laugh. “Hurry up.  We have to get breakfast going before all of the kids wake up. You know Elouise’s rule.  If we don’t hurry up, we will be late for brunch at Tuck and Darren’s place.” Sighing, I scrub my hand over my face, feeling the stubble on my chin.  “Why did you have to wake me up?  Can’t someone else help you?” Eddie plops down on the end of my bed and throws me one of his dazzling smiles.  His outfit finally registers.  The crazy racehorse is decked out in a full Santa costume, complete with a ridiculous fake beard that he has pulled down below his chin.  A laugh escapes me before I can help it. “What are you wearing?”

The tension in his shoulders relaxed a bit under my fingers. “Been a shitty day.”
Those beautiful eyes suddenly looked sad and my heart pinged for him. “I’m sorry.”
“Not your fault. Just really bad timing.”
“I get that. My day’s been rough too.”
As the song played, we descended into silence. Keeping any distance proved impossible on the jam-packed dance floor and from time to time, his body brushed against mine. The raw lyrics and driving chords echoed in my head and a different kind of heat started in my belly. One I hadn’t experienced in a long time. It made me ultra-sensitive to his every movement. His hands stayed on my waist, but his thumbs brushed across my ribs in a teasing caress. The tips of my breasts grazed his chest, and I wanted to press them in harder. Our lower bodies connected, grazing against each other. He was hard, and my mouth watered with need. I didn’t remember anything this forceful the last time Karl, and I were together or any time before that. My imagination took over, and I pictured this green-eyed man driving into me. Oh, I could almost feel it happening right here and now.
He pulled back and his eyes looked into mine. “I need to get out of here.”
Their intensity hit me like a lightning strike. I became feverish and my belly quivered with tightness.
“Sure.”
“Come with me.”
