A Loving Lie by Crista Crown
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
A Loving Lie (Smoking Harts #1) (ARC) was graciously provided to me by the author for an honest review. I have voluntarily read this book and have provided my honest opinion.
“A Wonderful New Series”
A wonderfully encompassing story filled with heart-ache, love, betrayal, and, sacrifice has taken over my emotions and has left this reader pleased with such a state. I am filled with a unique form of giddiness as I recall my most recent read of a new release, A Loving Lie, by Crista Crown, and, as I voraciously read this story, I couldn’t help but become completely insatiable with what I was reading. As these emotions had overflowed as I read this ultimately heart-warming read, I had secretly hoped that all of the endearing and gripping components of the story would comprise a lengthy and amazing read.
A Loving Lie is one of those books that has that indescribable way of enticing the reader to jump right into the grips of an unforgettable storyline. As I read this addictive read, from a new author, with a whole lot of eagerness and a very open mind, I quickly fell in love with the characters, the plot, and the setting, as it all brought me into the Omegaverse, a place and time that always seems to draw me in with the similarities and the vastness of such a concept. With this, I had felt that I had that added investment for a smoothly-written story with an overabundant HEA.
Wow, I loooved A Loving Lie as it has such a great overall storyline, with its heart-breaking, sizzling, shocking, intermittently humorous, and, heart-warming moments. Surprisingly, I had actually loved all of the characters. All-of-them. While they are all completely different entities, they were all written with that underlying likable fashion. Everyone had a personality, and, a purpose to the story. I needed to squeeze-hug all of them through bits-of-tears and an intermingling of humored giddiness. Its seemingly quick pace, containing a plot with varied dips and turns and beautifully descriptive scenery, held me throughout the story.
That being said..however..oh boy..there is a huge need for editing. Unfortunately, there were many glitches to the story that had caught my attention on more than one occasion. There were multiple time gaps, that needed to be filled for that continued smoothness to the plot. As the overall theme is of the Omegaverse, I had craved to see many of its wonderful components that make this such an enticing theme. In addition, the syntax and general mechanics of the story including spelling, word and sporadic plot omission did play a part in the overall smoothness of the storyline.
Even though there was such a huge need for various changes, the overall storyline and much of the plot were…wonderful! There were moments of happiness, glee, lots of tears and sadness, as well as welcomed bouts of crocodile-tears. As a whole, I loved A Loving Lie, by Crista Crown, and thoroughly look forward to the next book in this promising series..:)
