Liner Notes, A Lair Novel by A.M. Madden
Liner Notes, A Lair Novel (Arc) was graciously provided to me by Give Me Books PR for an honest review. I have voluntarily read this book and have provided my honest opinion.
A Beautifully, Heart-Warming Story
A beautifully heart-warming story about a down-to-earth, talented, dedicated young family man with pure, incredibly selfless dreams of sharing his deeply soulful words and music with the world. I loooved this story for this young man and his underlying drive and purpose which had me a blubbery mess early on in the story as his lyrics had a mind of their own in meaning and also in connection. Cannon Davis is a small-town musician with big-time dreams of rising above the hurt and pain as result of a broken yet loving childhood through his lyrical form of healing and boy-oh-boy..do these words pour out of him in his time of healing…..gah..does his soul sing..
Liner Notes, by A.M. Madden is a story about someone who follows his heart while at the same time, helping someone who needs help with listening to hers. It’s a story whose characters learn how to hold onto their morals and beliefs while turning moments of vulnerability into moments of growth and happiness.
Liner Notes is a great story with great characters, and as mentioned briefly, Cannon Davis and Lori Banzini are the two main ones who are at similar but very different places in their lives, both serving as vital components for each others growth, one needing more than the other. I loved the writing for this journey as the plot had interconnected similarities that had this reader re-reading various moments as they had this ah-ha type of understanding and clarity which was ultimately shiny and simply gorgeous.
Readers of A.M. Madden will be squealing loudly as characters from the previous series will be making extremely important cameos in this current read. This return to a world of music, love, and mayhem with addicting characters, snicker producing and snort-giggle bantering, and, various innuendos will have readers alike loving this new release as the chords of beautiful music will surely tie themselves to many readers as they swoon their way through this new and heart-warming story.
Aside from its wonderful moments, I also found there to be some challenging moments as well. Even though the story is told in first person, I found there to be many times when the plot was being told rather than developed for the reader to be able to experience it completely. Speaking for this reader, I always need to actually read about the events and the general excitement of the plot to be able to become fully connected to it as a whole. In addition, as the plot appeared to have a slower-pace, an added development to some of the characters would have contributed to more of a connection and a better flow as well. Lastly, as this is a spin-off, or a continuation of another series, for someone who hasn’t read the previous ones, I also found it a bit confusing at various times during the story, especially when reading the epilogue, beautiful as it was, and for this reason, would recommend including something as a tie-in, non-spoilerish, to enable new readers to understand everything as a whole, especially for such an important moment to a storyline..
Liner Notes, by A.M. Madden, is one of those exciting and hopeful stories with a wonderful storyline, a slowly-moving but fascinating plot, well-written characters, and, an underlying incredible theme that has this reader needing more from this musical world and its talented characters..I really liked it..:)
