Southern Brit by Marissa Holt
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Southern Brit (He’s the One Series Book 4) (ARC) was graciously provided to me by the author for an honest review. I have voluntarily read it and have provided my honest opinion.
Comfort, Support, Love, and, True Blood?
A thoroughly entertaining new read has just crossed my path, and, I already need more.. I just had the absolute pleasure in reading a fresh new release that could be considered one of those reads that would be just as enticing the second, third and forth time around. It’s a story filled with heart-felt, sexy, humorously-adorable moments, that are heavily-infused with testosterone-laden angst and unforgettable excitement as well.
Leading the way in Southern Brit by Marissa Holt, is plentiful character-laced intrigue, topped off with great British vernaculars and plentiful Southern charm, which collectively comprise multiple interesting and inquisitive moments which are paramount. Its hopeful and varied plot contains that need and desire for a different kind-of-future, one that is held onto strongly by each of the mc’s, Flynn and Royal, all the while attempting to leave the past behind them on this quest for more out of life. With the support, both direct and indirect, of close friends, and acquaintances, both Flynn and Royal, find themselves cautiously making their way towards their own kind of happiness, as they find truths and honesty difficult to finagle despite new and continued bonds being formed, including one that of a bright, kind, well-meaning, and, strong…drag queen.
While I had hoped for more meat to the plot, character background as well as development, and, despite the existence various of typos, as well as a need for more transitional smoothness, at times, I had greatly enjoyed this read. I look forward to reading more from this new author..
As Southern Brit can be read as a standalone, with the amount of wonderful cameos, it is recommended to read each of the previous books, from this author, prior to reading this one, in order to be able to soak in the most amount of pleasure from this particular read. If not, it surely can be read and enjoyed as a standalone, as it definitely was for this reader..:)
