Levi Cox left it all behind to go to school in California, but nothing could prepare him for what he discovers when he gets there. Between the university screwing up his living arrangements, the weird meddling old woman who runs the boarding house, and the fellow student who instantly catches his eye, life in Cali is more than he expected, and he isn’t sure he’s ready for any of it. College was supposed to be an adventure, but this might be more than Levi can handle.

Nathan Orion wants to have fun. That’s what he lives for and it’s exactly what his college years are supposed to be about. He’s happy with living the single life and being carefree…that is until the new student at his grandmother’s boarding house crashes into his life. Now he’s been recruited to show the new guy around, and if Nathan has his way, it won’t be just on-campus.

Will there be more, or is this only an illusion? Two men thrown together, not expecting anything, but possibly finding so much more than an off-campus setup.

                               “Love’s Unbreakable Bond….”

Wow, what an intrinsically beautiful and heart-warming story I just had the pleasure of reading.  I loved it, and, cannot wait to read it all over again.  Would it be weird to re-read it already?  I hope not because I just may wind-up doing that, it was that good.  I just had such joy in reading Off-Campus Setup and am just tickled pink as a result of all of the reasons why I absolutely loved it!

Off-Campus Setup by Maria Vickers is one of those stories that I just knew that I had to read as soon as I saw the book.  And, boy, am I glad that I did!  It’s a story that took me awhile to wrap my somewhat frazzled brain around with its somewhat hidden plot with yet very realistic moments. Regardless of finding it somewhat of a challenge to connect-the-dots, as this was definitely quite the mystery, there were other reasons why I gravitated towards it.  For one, I absolutely adored the mc’s, Levi and Nathan, and found them to be so adorable, as they played a pivotal role within all of the addictive, humorous, sexy, heart-breaking, and, heart-warming moments.  It was these two honorable young men who had me eagerly trying to figure out a clear plot, because they were indirectly the key to this incessantly unreachable, and, politely nagging wonderment, that I just could not figure out.  For all of these reasons, I could not get enough of them..

As previously mentioned, I found this story to be heavily laden with mysterious light-bulb moments that once they were sufficiently and brightly lit, were actually able to light my way towards a completely recognizable plot, as a whole. To be honest, it was a bit confusing to actually see one with a clear direction amongst the welcomed journey of these two men.  While I enjoyed seeing the unearthing of a tentative and new relationship between the two young men, I couldn’t quite see it’s actual purpose other than the obvious. I knew there was one, but, it took me a while to see it.  But, once I did…man-oh-man!!  Once that had occurred, everything made sense.  As soon as all of the dots had been connected, and, the tears had been shed, wow..it was true beauty.

There are many reasons why I loved this book. Clearly, one being its main characters. But, I also thoroughly enjoyed the secondary ones as well, some more than other(s), and, already wait with abated breath, for future books, especially for Catch and Rich.  I found them to be wonderful, supportive, and, equally mysterious as well, and, look forward to reading their stories.  But..rarely does any character get underneath my skin as one of them did in this particular story, perhaps a bit too much, regardless of the underlying reason(s) which had existed.  That being said, I still loved reading all of the moments, beautiful and stressful, that the characters had found themselves in, and, thought that the descriptive details were spot on, as I found myself actually reading much of the story with a new southern drawl, similar to that of one of the characters.

All in all, despite the existence of a somewhat confusing and mysterious undertone, it was overall a welcomed one.  I loved the ultimate connection of the various stories, regardless of some pivotal moments having been glanced over, as their inclusion could have strengthened the connection of the characters even more, it’s overall cohesiveness was a good one.  Regardless of its need for another run through with the editing process, I still loved it and cannot wait to read it again and again…:)

Prologue

Levi

I remembered everything very clearly. The first time we met, our first kiss, the first time we were discovered in the same bed by a nosey grandmother with bright yellow hair, and then the fallout when I realized everything was nothing more than a wishful fantasy that was never supposed to come true.
And now I as scanned this room to make sure nothing got left behind, I realized how much I’d changed and how far I’d come. My imaginary world exploded, leaving me shell shocked and pissed off.
This wasn’t the first time I’d fallen prey to feelings, wasn’t the first time I’d been hurt, but it would be the last.
I took a step out of the room and closed the door behind me. This part of my life was now over, and a new one had just begun.

Life as I knew it had disappeared. Poof. Gone without a trace. And any other of those sayings people tended to overuse.
It was my own fault really. I should have expected it, should have seen it coming, but I hadn’t. And now everything had changed. Good or bad. I didn’t know yet. Should I be thanking her or blaming her? Both maybe?
As I closed the door on the small space I’d called my bedroom for the past few years, I realized for the first time I didn’t know what I was going to do or what would happen tomorrow…and oddly enough, that thrilled me.
